The vicious circle
In every walk of life, people face a myriad of problems. Just one of the innumerable injustices, opinion. Opinions are what define the uniqueness of the concept of individuality, the proof of free thought, the base of personality and the foundation of the greatest sins imaginable by a human being.
Opinion is a judgement, a view of a person, a stray thought describing the first thing the person notices about an object, situation, another person or an idea, a basis for stereotype and expectation. Opinion is not restricted by either knowledge, fact, or logic.
Opinion...The source of mankind's greatest strength and the basis of its greatest woe. Simple first impressions are enough to firm an opinion of a person, enough to stereotype them, enough to damn them to a single person's judgement, thereby justifying social evils like discrimination, racism, foeticide, rape, homicide, bigotry and stereotyping.
Ironic, that the source of human pride based on individuality and intelligence, is also the sword that justifies the slaughter, abuse and oppression of millions everyday.
Hate begets more hate, and intelligence spawns arrogance, individuality breeds superiority, and superiority births discrimination. So is the price to be payed for a peaceful world going to be human individuality? Is a world at peace worth turning out perfect replicas of one another? Is Equality and Co-existence just a pipedream, as long as free thought is present?
Is the spearhead of innovation, the sword that beheads us, or the arrow that leads us?
Or is it all an illusion, playing over and over, In a vicious circle?
