It's ok to be selfish at times. You need to think about yourself once in a while. You need to cater to your needs for a change. You can't be there for everyone all the time, at times you need to be there for yourself.
Although you may think differently but it's true that the others need you. What you do not understand is that you need yourself too. Narcissi, overdid it a bit but he had the right idea in the start, you need to love yourself as well. You are so much more than what you give yourself credit for.
You have a heart of gold. You alone have made a difference and saved a lot of lives. The journey has not been kind to you, your soul has suffered. You've received scars from battles that can't be seen or healed. You've damaged your soul to save others and in return have never expected a thank you, not that you received any.
Even though your hands have saved so many lives you only think about the ones you failed to save. You blame yourself for that, only to find that the others agree with you. Deep down, even you know that you gave it your best and you couldn't have done anything to save them. But you punish yourself every night for it by torturing yourself with your self loathing thoughts. Your nightmares are proof enough for the agony you put yourself through.
Others have failed to see that beneath all the rough texture, you are only human. You cannot save everyone. They've put too much responsibility on your shoulders but your screwed-up thinking makes even that ok. For after all you think it's their right to do so and it's your job to fulfill all the responsibilities and save the world
You have given up everything that you want, to be a soldier in this war against evil. Yet you've never complained, not even once. You've put your own feelings in a place that you seldom visit, only to make sure that their feelings are never hurt by anyone. And in you've never asked them for anything. And yes, you love them. You'd die a thousand deaths only to keep them save.
But you are afraid. You are afraid that they will never need you the way you need them. You are afraid that you will lose them in a battle. You are afraid that they will leave you and you will be alone. Yet you still fight, only to stop the demons to ever touch them. You've lost too much, you are afraid to lose again.
But you still see your life as worthless, like your life doesn't mean anything. You fail to see how important you are. How much you've changed the lives of others. How much everyone should be thankful to you.
You are a hero, in the true sense.
