AN: I'm sorry if it's a bit out of character. This was just written for fun. Don't forget to leave a review!

Ian Chesterton, the Chairman of the Governors at Coal Hill Secondary School, was staring at the clock, counting down the time until the day was over. He had just gotten out of a meeting about reviewing the school's budget for hiring new teachers. Needless to say, it was long and boring, and he would much rather spend his time elsewhere on these types of days.

The clock struck 4:55 pm, just 5 more minutes until he could clock out and enjoy an evening out with his wife Barbara. But luck was not on his side, as the phone rang just as he was about walk out of his office. He looked at the clock, 4:58 pm, "So close."

Ian walked over to his desk and answered the phone, "Chairman of the Governors, Ian Chesterton speaking."

"Chatterton, guess who it is…"

"It's Chesterton, Doctor. Chesterton." Ian automatically replied before he froze in horror and delight. And then he realized who he was talking too. Only one person has ever called him Chatterton, and it had been a long while since he'd seen that person. "Doctor? Is that you?"

"Who else would I be Chatterton? How's Barbara and Johnny?" the Doctor asked.

It was the Doctor alright. Who else would call him Chatterton. "They're doing well Doctor. To what do I owe this call, Doctor? I was just getting ready to leave for an evening out with Barbara."

"Ah yes, I was wondering if I could ask a favor of an old friend. My current companion, Clara Oswald, is looking to become a teacher." The Doctor went on.

'Clara Oswald?' Ian thought while he listened to the Doctor, and then he remembered that she was one of the candidates for the open teaching positions, "Say no more Doctor, I'll see what I can do." If the Doctor recommended her, then she was good in Ian's book. After all, the Doctor only takes the best. "Will we be seeing you soon?"

"Yes, no, maybe, I really don't know. My life is a bit complicated right now."

"When is your life ever no complicated Doctor?" Ian chuckled.

"Right. Put me down for definite maybe if things go as I think they will go. And say hello to Barbara and Johnny for me."

And with those words, Ian knew his time with the Doctor was ending. "Alright Doctor, a definite 'maybe.' I look forward to meeting this Ms. Clara Oswald you speak so highly of. It was pleasure talking to you, Doctor. Take care of yourself."

"I always take care of myself!" The Doctor exclaimed, and then he spoke with much humbleness in his voice, "Thank you Chesterton."

Ian smiled, "Anytime Doctor. Goodbye Doctor."

"Good bye Chesterton." And the Doctor hung up.

With a new smile on his face, Ian quickly made a note on his desk about Clara Oswald before heading home. He and Barbara were going to have an interesting talk tonight.
