"Emma come to Mami" Mimi cooed to her little brown haired daughter. The small child toddled over to her mother, precariously, holding onto the edge of a table. Roger was out with Mark and Carly at the Life Cafe. Mimi had voulenteered to stay home with Em.
"Baby" she whispered "I love you."
The petite child looked up at Mimi with big blue-green eyes exactly the color of Roger's.
"Your birthday is coming soon chica."
"But today is Carly's birthday."
"Cahlee" Emma spoke softly.
"What?!" Mimi asked opening her eyes in surprise.
"Cahlee" the little girl repeated.
Mimi suddenly smiled huge and picked up her little girl. She started spinning her baby around and Emma threw back her head and laughed.
"You just said your first word little girl" Mimi squealed.
"What's going on here?" Roger asked standing in the doorway of the kitchen.
"Emma said her first word" Mimi replied still spinning and dancing.
"What did she say Meems?"
"She said Carly" Mimi replied.
Roger's eyes lit up and he turned to the hall.
"Carls" he called.
"Yeah dad" Carly Davis said walking towards him and slouched in the door way.
"Your sister just said your name, did you know?" Roger demanded to his thirteen year old daughter.
"Really" Carly shouted and when Emma whimpered Mimi glared at her.
"Sorry Mom" Carly said blushing, she acted a bit too much like her dad. Mimi motioned for Carly to come sit.
"Emma" Carly whispered smiling down at her sister "I love you."
"Cahlee" Emma replied and started to suck on her thumb.
"This is the best birthday ever!" Carly declared.
Roger looked down at his family and said "my girls."
"Yeah" Mimi replied handing Emma to Carly and started walking to her husband " and we always will be." Then she kissed him softly.
"Get at room!" Carly shouted and the two adults broke apart quickly.
"My family" Roger muttered.
"You know you love us" Carly called down from her seat one the floor.
"Yeah, I do" Roger replied and when Mimi wrapped her arms around him he knew it was true. That and the fact that he was VERY hungry.
