Ordinary days are when you get up, eat breakfast, go to school, do your homework and sleep. Ordinary days are when you talk to your friends and blush when your crush approaches. Ordinary days are when you fail a test, or play some video games. Ordinary days were not today.

Seven A.M.

An alarm rings, and a pair of green eyes slowly blink open. They glance around, and upon making contact with the clock, the girl throws off her covers. As she is struggling to get dressed, a school bus rushes down the road, not even stopping at her home. She groans, grabs her backpack, and runs out the door.

Nine A.M.

"Cassidy? You need to go to the Principal's office." The teacher hung up the phone and the green-eyed girl grabbed her bag, again, and exited the classroom.

Upon arriving at the Principal's office, she was told to sit down. The Principal gave her a look of pity.

"Miss Reynolds, I'm afraid I have bad news. There was a shooting at the Bank Of America downtown. Your mother is in the hospital, and your sister is in critical condition."

Cassidy sat still. The man across the desk reached for one of her hands, which was lying on the desk, but she pulled it away.

"That wasn't funny."

"It wasn't a joke, Miss Reynolds. I'm sorry."

Cassidy stood up, looked the man in the eye, and spoke to him in a tone that he did not believe a 15 year old could harbor. "Bullshit."

She spun around, leaving her backpack in the room, and left the school. As soon as she got outside, she broke into a full sprint, running to the hospital that was three miles away.

Ten A.M.

She quickly approached the hospital. The road had been closed for maintenance, so it was rather easy for her to cross the road safely.

She continued sprinting across the road, and tried to avoid a large block of concrete. Her foot got stuck, and she tripped forward, falling through an open manhole.

The last thing she could remember was the sound of her head hitting the ground.
