Done Nothing Wrong

"I haven't done anything wrong!" the chimera yells harshly at the man who sits enthroned before him. Such a man did not deserve to sit with such power and rule a country. If the king had half a brain he would think twice before making the claims he did.

"You dared step foot in my kingdom you monster," the king screams back, his voice is much too high to garner respect. "That is the crime you face. Unless you pay the fine you will be imprisoned, if no one can pay the expense for keeping you alive then you shall be executed."

Zelgadis glares coldly and sneers. "It seems there are still some idiotic kingdoms left standing despite Lina's extensive travels."

"What did you say?!" the king shrilly demands.

"Doesn't matter, since Lina isn't here, I'll do the job for her," Zelgadis grins. "If you want to survive I recommend you pay me money instead."

Red in the face with anger, the king stomps his feet and points a shaking finger at Zelgadis. "Kill him! Killemkillemkillem!"

Even though Zelgadis is bound in magical cuffs, he easily breaks them with his strength and lets a Burst Flare erupt from his hands.

Five minutes later the king has paid him 5,000 gold pieces to rid his kingdom of the monsters and save his pathetic hide. Grinning boldly, Zelgadis travels down the road feeling pleased with himself despite being mistaken for a monster yet again. By this time, he's gotten used to it. Why depress himself with the inevitable? And this way he gets enough money to travel by. Not exactly a living but it's enough.

Zelgadis hums a tune with a steady plume of smoke stretching up into the sky behind him. He's done nothing wrong, nothing at all.
