Your Darkness
She gathered up her courage, lifting her hand and knocked.
She waited and watched as the huge oak door unlocked.
The house was magnificent, as eerie as it was grand,
She wondered if she'd just entered into no man's land.
A woman appeared out of nowhere, wearing a cloak and a cape,
"Hello," she said to her, "I'm looking for Severus Snape,"
"And who might you be?" the woman asked, "Looking for my son?"
"A friend of his," she replied, "My name is Lily, Lily Evans."
She sighed and said, "Up the stairs to the right, second door,"
Lily thanked her and climbed up the stairs to the first floor.
She noticed the hallway, a red pillar candle and a toy stained with mud,
Stood on a table, next to a curtain, she could swear, had a stain of blood.
She reached the door, and knocked to begin an end,
Out came, her dishevelled and messy looking best friend.
Not anymore, she reminded herself, as he stared at her in shock,
"Hello Severus," she said, "Is there somewhere we could talk?"
"Come in," he said, she walked in and he closed the door behind,
The room looked different, unlike anything she'd thought she would find.
"I can't believe you're here," he said, and he looked as if he could fly,
"You misunderstand Sev," she said, "I'm just here to tell you goodbye,"
"Please don't, Lily, I am really sorry," he said, in a crestfallen voice.
"I can forgive, Severus," she said, "You only have to make the right choice,"
"Chose me," she begged, "Chose the light, chose what you know is right,"
His guilt was evident on his voice, but so was his decision to not fight.
Her heart hurt and ached , for all they had, and all they used to be,
"Actions speak louder than words, and your actions don't chose me,"
Her words echoed in that room, and she watched her worlds collide,
She could see the struggle in him, between his heart and in his pride.
"Your actions don't chose me either," his quite words hit her like a curse,
She felt her heart break, because the decision, now, wasn't just hers.
"I love you," he said, and her head snapped up, staring in his eyes,
"Your words, your promises, but I guess they were just lies,"
"You called me that," she screamed, "in front of the whole school,"
"I'd thought you saw me as more than that, but I guess I was a fool,"
He ran his fingers through his hair, looking as guilty as she knew he felt,
But he couldn't change anything, not when the hands been dealt.
"Why?" she whispered, "Why would you chose the dark at war's hour?"
"The strength," he replied, a tone she didn't like, "And the power,"
"I hope it helps you sleep at night," she heard her own voice cry,
"I hope the power holds your hand, and sits by you when you die."
The anger in his eyes told her she no longer knew this boy at all,
He was no longer the one who held her when her tears would fall.
"Try to understand," he said, "It's time for all wizards to be free,"
"At what cost?" she screamed, "Death of all mudbloods like me?"
He flinched as she said that word, as his grimace fought her glare,
"Goodbye, Severus," she said, walking away, "And please do take care,"
"Wait, I'm sorry, I promise I'll keep you said," his voice was full of dread,
"I won't succumb to your darkness," was the last thing, to him, she said.
