He was so pale, like snow. Wanda wondered if she was that pale. She tried to touch her face, but the heavy chains kept her hands from moving.
She contented herself with pressing cheek against the glass instead, the nearly invisible wall cold to the touch. There was a hole for air, and she gasped before screaming his name through her muzzle.
"Bucky!"
The man looked up, his chains rattling, and started screaming too, his own muzzle moving as his mouth cried.
"Wanda!"
They were shut up soon by a guard, but that was enough. They had reminded each other. After all, names are not hard to forget.
Bucky couldn't tell if it was night or day. The only clue was the guards changing, their footsteps loud against the shiny floor.
He took the five minutes where it was only her and him and talked with her. She whispered of a brother lost, and he of a friend who who had vanished. But surely, Steve couldn't be dead, right? Right?
By the time the new guard arrived, they were both in tears.
When sleep time rolled around, they were placed together. They normally weren't allowed to be together during the day, but during the night...
Wanda curled up next to him. Bucky was warm, like a heat lamp. The room was cold except for him, and Wanda murmured something in her sleep.
Bucky pulled her closer, soaking in her company. He would have lost himself completely had it not been for her warm smiles, her loud laughter.
He put his head on her chest, and closed his eyes.
They were let out once a day to walk around the yard, and soak in the sun. They were kept chained, of course. Wanda sat on the ground in her straight jacket, her toes curling up with happiness.
Bucky sat next to her, his hands heavily chained behind him. But that didn't stop him from picking a flower with his teeth, and giving it to her.
Wanda felt her heart melt, and then felt her face redden as the people in her head smeared her heart onto her face.
When the guards came to bring them back to their prison, they clung to each other like the world was ending.
They got their way, and were placed in the same cell.
"I love you, I love you, I love you..." Wanda chanted, pressing her cheek against his. Bucky's eyes were half closed.
"I love you too," he said softly. They sat there, surround by chains and hopeless locks. But that was okay.
We don't need to escape, Wanda thought, kissing and kissing him. We're with each other.
Then she laughed madly, and started screaming again, her wails chorusing with Bucky's.
