A change of life is a change in style.
Chapter one:
I, Cloe Uley, have been through some tough times. Times where my brother Sam had warned me for in the past. He never really got along with our dad and I never understood why, but since I turned into a 21 year old I found out why he could be able to hate him so much. In between my home studying and work at the local Diner I never seemed to be any good in my dad's eyes anymore.
I didn't have any friends since high school. I had blocked them off my life since I started college classes at home. After quite a while they stopped calling and texting. The only person I could talk to was my brother Sam. We never got along well. That was until the fights between me and my dad started. I just had to talk to someone. So I called him every day or I went over to his house when he invited me to talk face to face. Every time he looked and sounded more worried about me. I didn't know what exactly had been happening between the two of them. They both didn't want to talk about it, but I knew from Sam's side that he got out of it too late to not be damaged by it.
It was Saturday morning and again it had been a week full of struggle. I tried hard to get my assignments done in between the fights with my dad, who kept distracting my mind. I also had a lot of evening shifts at the Diner.
Like I said I tried to get them done. So I was working on them right now. Dad was still asleep as it was 5am. So that meant that he wouldn't be able to distract me with a fight. Besides all of that he was drunker than drunk last night. I didn't expect him to wake up earlier than the afternoon.
Since I had different classes assigned for, when I started getting back on school duties, I had a lot of work to do. In the beginning I thought I could handle it all, but ever since the fights started I started to fail. That made the fights even worse.
I rubbed my forehead to push the headache away. "Not now please…." I said to myself . I started to have headache's more often. Doctor Cullen told me it was because of the amount of stress I got on my plate this year. I only went to Doctor Cullen because Sam had been dragging me there and told him everything. He seemed over worried about me. The doctor told me I needed rest, but to be honest I couldn't get any rest.
I sighed and closed the algebra book as I finally finished the work I had to do for that subject. It had been hard, but I made it. I hit send on the email button as I send it to the mentor of my algebra class. He also was my general mentor and lived in Forks. Soon he wanted to visit me, but I didn't really want him to see what the mess was laying all around the living room. Beer bottles were laying all around. Even if I cleaned them up they came back at the same tempo.
I was very much ashamed of my dad being an alcoholic. That he was since my mom died. We were not allowed to talk about mom or his drinking problem. That would cause a new fight.
My mom died when I was 19 years old She got an aggressive form of cancer and within a month she was gone. I still cried myself to sleep knowing that if she was still here she would have came to my rescue.
I sighed as I flipped the pages in my school map looking for the art assignment. It was part of my graduation project that was going to be years away. Now I hear you thinking why is she 21 and still in college? Well that had two reasons. 1. My mom died and I wasn't ready to go back yet. 2. There was no money. It was used for alcohol. That's why I work shifts at the diner. To get the money together to pay the classes.
I looked up from the sheet of paper as I heard my phone buzz. I looked at the screen and saw that I had received a message from Sam.
Sam: Are you home and up?
I frowned and texted back.
Yeah, I am. What's up?
As soon as I saw he read it I heard a whistle outside. I moved the stuff from my lap and walked over to the window. I was sleeping at the front of the house so when I looked out the window I saw Sam's truck outside and someone else's. I opened my window and looked outside. Another whistle made me look down and see Sam along with two other huge boys. I frowned and he smiled.
"We are here to rescue you from that ass of a father. Can you please open the door?" He asked with a grin on his face. I smiled and disappeared back into my room. "Finally…"I said with a sigh and hurried down the stairs. I opened the door to a smiling Sam. "Pack your things my sweet little sister. You are going to live with me." I looked at him in disbelief. "Are you sure you want this? Is Emily okay with it?" I asked him and he nodded. "Emily is very excited to take you in." He said with a smile. "She loves to take care of people who need it." The boy behind Sam said. "My name is Brady and this is Collin."He said pointing to the other boy. I had seen them in high school a long time ago and sometimes at the Diner. "It's nice to meet Sam's friend. I'm Cloe" I said, shaking hand with them
"Now come on get your things before he wakes up." Sam said quickly. I smiled and ran upstairs with the three of them following behind me.
I pulled out some bags from where I saved them and gave the boys instructions. I trusted Sam with getting my school stuff together and Brady and Collin were packing my clothes. Sam and I were holding our laughs when they had to pack my underwear and bra's
I shook my head and finished up packing the sentimental stuff, like the picture of our mom on my nightstand. Suddenly I heard a door slam. "Shit. He's awake" I said and I heard footsteps coming towards my room. Brady, Collin and Sam seemed prepaired for this, but I wasn't. Sam pulled the bag he had been stuffing with my school work over his shoulder like it was nothing and stood in front of me. Brady and Collin took the clothing bags and the bag I had been stuffing with other stuff and they walked over to the window, which was still open. I saw them hurry to get the stuff in the truck and ran back. Sam made me walk to the window when the door opened. "Cloe, you piece of junk, get me my whiskey as soon as…" He stopped talking as he saw Sam with me behind him. "She is not going to do anything for you anymore." Sam said to him. He pushed me more to the window. I knew my dad blocked the way to the door and that he wasn't going to let us through. My only option to escape was to jump out of the window.
I looked down and saw Brady and Collin looking up at me. Ready to catch me. "Cloe don't do this to me…" My father said in a furious tone. I looked at Sam and he nodded. That's where I climbed out of the window and let myself fall down. I screamed until I was in the hands of the guys who caught me. They put me down and as soon as Sam landed next to us we started to run to the cars. I got in Sam's car since I couldn't afford my own car.
" I will find you and drag you back here!" I heard behind me. It was my dad. More furious than he had been inside. I looked at Sam and he found in my eyes the answer that he had to drive. I was finally free.
