This was originally made out of sheer boredom and a short space of time, so I based this story on a DeviantArt picture of the same name (for the life of me I can't remember who did it, though...) But this version was edited to enter into a 500 words or less short story competition, hence its short length. For the record, it never made it very far...but I hoped for better things from my opus XD. I focused more on Demyx rather than the storyline of KH itself, and this is what I came up with. Enjoy! (i know I enjoyed writing it XP)

Let It Rain

The storm had hit its hardest upon the rocky cliffs like walls of an immense citadel along the coastline. Foul winds battered like raiders upon the rugged terrain, seeking to desecrate those golden sands. The night had fallen, the phantom clouds overhead invisible in the darkness. Roars of fury from the heavens beckoned the winds forth in all their rage, whirling and heaving in tribal frenzy.

A single raindrop fell like a beacon, crashing at the crest of the highest cliff, at the feet of a dark figure ominous and silent to the chaos before him. As if on cue, a single, high ringing sounded from that cliff. If was clear and crisp, sounding out and contrasting with the madness about it. Another followed, and in sequence, beauty wove its way from the high cliff into the heart of the tempest.

The dark man wielded a carefully woven instrument, a benign vessel of peace that brought forth that sweet melody unlike that of man or nature, echoing out into the night as his song was played by masterful fingers, bringing a smile to the lips of the maestro of the elements.

The rain came tentatively, first in a single drop, which lead the way to a torrent that deafened the wind and appeased the thunderous lords on high. They fell upon that glorious instrument, transforming them into sweet, harmonious notes that fused and twisted themselves into the song as if they belonged to this oeuvre, as if the rain itself was singing this sweet melody.

Note by note, raindrop by raindrop, the song played on. Even when the man's hair sparkled in non-existent light and the water slid effortlessly off his leather jacket, dripping from its silver adornments, he cared little. The rain danced alongside the master of the ocean and the water, spiraling and singing as their song fell from those high cliffs and back to their home, stirring the very ocean itself.

Waves exploded upon the rocks like barrages of artillery, showering shrapnel sweat upon the harmony as the song rose in its intensity, the rain falling harder as the ocean rose up to meet this mysterious wanderer, to lay hands on the sweet device with which he conquered and commanded sea and sky. There was nothing more in this moment than the song, flowing through this man like a conduit of emotion, bringing the sea to madness like a beast awakening from its slumber.

And then, suddenly, erratically and all at once, the ocean exploded and the rain fell to meet its greater power. In a final resounding crash, the sleeping creature within the music rose to its feet and roared the final resounding notes, silencing all but the liquid salt around. The wind fell silent and the lightning was struck down in awe as the dramatic symphony ended, leaving silence save from the pure life force falling from the sky in beloved blessing.

The song was over. The man let the rain sing alone for a while.
