Hello readers! I'm not sure how long this story might be but I would like to write a story that I've been looking in several and haven't found yet. So I thought to myself, is it me or are there other who think like me? I wanted to take a different angle of expressing my characters yet still relating to Resident Evil's themes. I hope you enjoy it.
I'm confusing, the story might be confusing to you at first too, but it will trigger your curiosity. Well, at least I hope so.
Drip. Drip. Drip. Stop.
She trembled. Her heart throbbed. She was feeling dizzy. What on earth she thought.
She stood still and silently, looking through the blurred window pane, wondering if it was meant to be. While her tears slowly slide down on her cheeks, she begins to reminisce the days she had missed to be, the person she thought she would be. Where did it all go wrong, she wondered. Where did it all fall and how did she lose it all? In one snap, her life collapsed and lost everything that seemed precious to her, but most importantly she lost her will to live and continue facing life.
She wasn't the only one crying tonight, the skies were crying with her too. The rain fell heavily, making her wet and cold. The wrecked houses that surrounded her were out of shape and completely ruined. It affected them all, but especially her. She slowly walked away from the the house's window pane and walked through the dark, dirty alley - making her way towards the cracked roads. Blood, bodies, ashes was all she can see. She lost it. She screamed and cried in despair, her legs gave in and eventually she fell on her knees. She punched the ground while screaming and crying in regret. The feeling that she will never forget.
After some time, the rain stopped. Was it an hour? Two? Maybe four? She can't recall. She stood up feeling dizzy, realizing that she fainted. She dragged herself to walk, but she didn't have a plan nor a place to go to. What's the point she thought, she was the only one alive. Her town got completely affected by an epidemic resulting in the death of every person but herself. Why? She thought. Her face was completely bruised and scratched, while her body ached. She looks around studiously, nothing has changed. Cars were damaged, houses were destroyed and bodies were still laying around. This is a dream; this is not reality she persuaded herself.
"I need to wake up," she said, "I need to wake up right now."
She tries to stand up, but fails miserably. There was a deep cut on her right leg. But wait, when did she get injured, she was confused. She attempts to crawl on the rocky roads and barely succeeds. After a few minutes of crawling she lets out a deep sigh and screams loudly. Nothing was going right. She slams herself back on the wet road and covers her eyes. Again, she cries silently. Once she wiped her tears, she finds herself facing the sky and asking the same questions. "Why?" she said. She closed her eyes for a few minutes then turned her head. She found herself facing a dead person, looking at him right through his eyes. Surprisingly, she didn't react, she didn't hesitate nor flinch. She reached her hand out to close his eye, she felt remorseful. "What did he do to deserve this?" she asked herself. She scanned the man's body while laying on the cold road. Her eyes sparked and opened wide. He was holding a gun. "A gun," she said. "That's my way out, I can wake up, finally!" she releases a slight sigh.
Suddenly, she begins laughing hysterically, losing all of her senses she couldn't care any less at the moment. She lost her mind. Without any hesitation she grabbed the gun and pointed it towards her abdomen while laying on the ground. She slowly closed her eyes and smiled. She felt drops of rain falling from the skies once again.
"Looks like the skies are crying again," she thought out loud. With a smile, she pulled the trigger and shot herself.
Once again the night cried in silence, on the bodies.
