It was after eleven at night and Diwan was still stumbling through the corridors of the Monolith, her sleep was taken away by Oslo who would have a mission for her. She tiredly sighed and gave a short formal rap on the door. She immediately entered the office, finding Oslo; his back was turned towards her.
"Good evening Diwan." He turned around with a cocky smirk on his face.
She bended her head shortly, waiting for him to continue.
"I suppose I would have chosen someone else for this but I thought you would be up for this."
She imperceptibly sighed. Why I am always the person chosen for this? Actually she knew the answer, he just loved to belittle her, wear her out.
"I hope you don't fall short of my expectations this time. You disappoint me enough and there will be a time you won't be of any use to me anymore Diwan." He emotionlessly added, a cold gaze looked in her direction. He was satisfied that he knew various ways to disparage her, he diverted himself by making use of them very often.
"Diwan, take a look at this." A blue hologram of a map showed up.
"Around here in Sphere territory we discern a lot of motions. I want you and four troops inspecting the place for any rebels. Clear?"
She gazed at the place her commander had indicated.
"This location will be added into your patroller leading board."
…
They arrived at the indicated area, Diwan walked out of the patroller arrogantly. She designated three brigadiers to flank her left, three at the right. She surmised the area would be completely empty, she actually was certain about that.
"Search the area thoroughly." She sharply instructed. God she loathed these assignments, she gave a brigadier a glower. Diwan suddenly receded in reaction when one of the robots got pierced by a plasma gun shot.
"Take cover!" she growled angrily vexed by the unexpected offensive. Casting furious glances around her, she saw guardians perishing one by one. Diwan found people yelling in pain when an effective shot hit them. They evidently were the minor group what would explicate that this was a deliberate snare. Being heedless she felt the recoil of a gunshot launching her into the air crashing on the ground afterwards She shrieked in agony when coming in touch with the terrain. Feeling a sticky warm fluid running down her neck she constrained herself to crawl up, a piercing pain ran through her shoulder stupefying her. Diwan staggered forward despondently striving to reach her ship.
Diwan stiffened by a second assault of pure agony. With dread she lowered her eyes, descrying her uniform, a spot on the height of her waist turned dark red. She gulped for air collapsing on her knees. She had a bitter, sweet taste of blood in the mouth, she expectorating an amount of blood. It was trickling on the ground mixing with mud. Feeling her consciousness impairing she crashed to the ground. Feeble Diwan looked around with a blurred vision. Her eyes rolled back turning everything black.
