Wake Up and Smell the Lilies

The Wonderbolts Academy graduation ceremony is approaching, but to one pegasus pony, it isn't as important as a fellow unicorn that she has fallen in love with.

Chapter I

"Lightning Blue, come downstairs for a moment please!"

I sat up in my bed and looked out the window. Aw, horseshoes, it's already noon! I thought to myself. I grabbed my glasses from my bedside table and put them on, then hovered downstairs slowly, still half asleep.

"You look exhausted, Blue," my mother, Rainbow Dash, said in a sympathetic tone. "Did you stay up all night reading again?" I slowly nodded, yawning. Mom walked toward me. "Well, that's definitely something you get from me! I remember when I was your age, always staying up late reading A.K Yearling's Daring Do books. I could never put them down, I was so intrigued. And to think I actually met A.K Yearling years ago, finding out that she was Daring Do herself!" She walked back to the oven and grabbed the pan of pancakes, setting them on the table. "I need you to do me a favour today; have some pancakes first." I obliged and sat down on a chair at the table, gnawing at my breakfast. "Lightning, I need you to go down to Ponyville and gather some stuff I need. I wrote it down on this list," Mom said as she pushed a piece of paper toward me. "Princesses Celestia, Luna and Cadance are coming to Cloudsdale for the graduation ceremony at the Wonderbolts Academy, and she asked me to help out with decorations and the like. I don't have time to gather the things I need and I'm certainly not going to ask your father to get everythi-oh, horseshoes, look at the time! It's already one o'clock! Gotta go to work; those pegasi aren't going to learn to be a Wonderbolt by themselves!" As my dad, Big McIntosh, trotted down the stairs from the second floor, Rainbow Dash flew out the door and out towards the Wonderbolts Academy.

"Hey, Dad," I say with my mouth full of pancake dough. "You have a good night sleep?" "Eeyup," he replied, as he normally said. "Did your mom go to work?" I nodded.

"I better get going, Mom gave me some chores to do in Ponyville." I flew upstairs into my room and put on a Paramare shirt, cloth bag and black jeans, then flew out my window down to Ponyville.
