Born with an incurable disease, Mathias blindly follows his path in life. With an invitation to meet a young man named Lukas, all he sees is that fate may be in his favor this time.

So this is yet another one of my stories, which actually has a lot of meaning to me for once. And from now on, I refuse to give myself deadlines, since I just procrastinate anyway and disappoint you guys. It takes an expert at laziness to be as bad at updating as I am. So basically, this story is about blind!Denmark and Norway, and how they meet. I apologize in advance for short chapters, but that's just how I write, so deal with it.

Hetalia belongs to Mr. Himaruya and the story belongs to me.

Footsteps led down the snowy sidewalk, a knock at the door. Mathias stands at the entrance to a small, pleasant apartment. Rustling is heard from inside, where his best friend Tino throws open the door.

"Why hello, Mathias! Come on inside, there's some hot cocoa on the stove."

Mathias steps through, feeling his way around and grinning from ear to ear. Tino has been his good friend for as long as he could remember, and whether it was December or June, he always seemed to be equipped with his precious homemade pot of rich hot chocolate. A cozy living room awaits, three small armchairs in front of a small television. He collapses into his chair, receiving the drink his friend had prepared for him.

"So, Tino, care to explain the necessity for me to arrive at this time of night? It's almost midnight at this point, and it isn't exactly easy for me to get here!"

"Well it's important! My friend from high school, y'know, Lukas? He's the guy I've been telling you about lately, and he's throwing a Christmas party tomorrow night. I was wondering if you'd like to go. I could drive you there and back, it'd surely be no trouble. So what do you say?"

Mathias thinks about this offer for a few moments. Tino has rambled about this Lukas guy on several occasions in the past, yet he isn't certain that Lukas would accept his impairment and allow him inside.

"Sure, why not? I mean, as long as he's okay with the blind guy being there!"

In the past, more than once, he would arrive somewhere and be turned down, albeit usually as pleasantly as possible. Usually. It had never seemed fair to him, the fact that suffering meant you were shunned by the public. In no way had he been at fault for this, being born with a hereditable disease. Mathias suffers from Retinitis Pigmentosa, a disease that degenerates the peripheral vision, rapidly deteriorating sight over a period of time. He wasn't completely shielded from vision, as he was technically considered to be legally blind as of now.

"I'm sure he wouldn't mind, Mathias, don't worry about it! I'll pick you up around six tomorrow night. And dress up, that's the only rule!"
