(Authors note: sorry for the short chapters, I have bad writers block right now!)

CHAPTER 1 (Cloves P.O.V.)

I stand in my lacy white dress on reaping day. I look over to the boys area and see Cato looking at me. I smile at him and try to mouth don't worry, but I get interrupted by a voice.

"Hello everyone," said the woman that would be reaping us. She was a woman from the Capitol, but I forget her name.

"Today we will be reaping these wonderful children from District 2."

She finished off, and the video that they play every year about the history of Panem comes on. It's very boring and gets repetitive. I turn to Cato and mockingly mouth the words, seeming I know them off my heart.

The video ends and she turns to the large glass bowl, with the names for the reaping in them. "Ladies first," she says, going to the ladies' bowl.

She put her hand gently in the bowl and fished around for names. She pulled out a paper slip and looked at it.

"Clove Sevina!" She said.

I looked at Cato one last time and walked bravely up to the stage.

"Hello," said the Capitol woman, shaking my hand. I quietly said 'hi' back, and waited as she fished around for the boy's name.

"Alex Hadley!" She called.

I frowned. Alex Hadley is Cato's 11-year-old brother.

I look towards Alex. You can see the fear in his face. I recognize that fear. It is the same fear that I saw in my sisters face, before she died a few years ago in the 18th Hunger Games.

"I volunteer as tribute!" yelled Cato, running up to the stage. Alex ran back down and I look at Cato with a smirk. This is it. We are finally in the Hunger Games. We have been training for this our entire life.

"Shake hands," said the Capitol woman. We shook hands and she exclaimed,

"Happy Hunger Games, and may the odds be ever in your favor!"
