Favor

Selendrile had to admit, the little human girl he had run into and spent the past few days leading around sure was different from others of her kind.

First of all, she threw rocks at him. Him. A dragon. What sane, scrawny human girl throws rocks at a dragon?

Alys obviously, if one could consider her sane, which he did… most of the time. He would grudgingly admit she is clever, for a human at least. And brave, another rare trait for a human, if bravery could be described as running back into a town full of villagers that would happily kill you on sight in the middle of the night to try to help a dragon who kept important secrets from you without a second thought. Selendrile thought it definitely could.

And then she brings back the man who accused her of being a witch, who had orcastrated her death simply for greed and power, to help save this fore-mentioned dragon. She was giving up her life, willing to admit to all of his lies about her and burn on the stake in front of all of the people she'd grown up with. For him.

He couldn't understand it. He couldn't comprehend it. He wasn't even nice to her! And as she was saving him she never once said or insinuated that he would owe her. There was never a sharp glance he could interpret as 'I save your life, you save mine.' Even in his state of pain and panic it had surprised him. And that's when he knew for sure she was different then any other human or fey creature he'd ever met.

And save him she did, but he did naught but watch from afar as she was led back to her hometown to stand trail once more.

As he had swooped in to save her, he told himself that he only did so because she'd already saved him. That he owed her a favor. But as soon as she was safe in his talons he felt so angry. He'd meant to simply grab his human cohort and leave, but he couldn't stop himself from burning down a few buildings and enjoying a few good screams. He wanted to burn them all, these pathetic beings that had nearly killed off an innocent, defenseless girl, for entertainment. They didn't deserve to live. He had desperately wanted to sink his razor sharp teeth into Gower, the wheelwright, and only the fact that Alys had promised Gower he'd survive restrained him, but that didn't stop him from blowing to pieces the wheelwrights newly expanded shop, the prize that Gower had worked so hard for was now nothing but rubble, and seeing his face reflecting his horror felt as good as killing him to Selendrile anyways.

Selendrile told himself it was all because he owed Alys a favor.

But when he asked her to stay with him, when he spoke the words that surprised both himself and the human girl he had no idea he'd grown so fond of until that very minute, he knew.

When he asked her to stay, it wasn't because of any favor. It was because he wanted her to stay. He had barely let this idea sink in before she smiled a smile that lit her entire face up and agreed. And Selendrile came to his second startling revelation; he was dangerously attracted to this insane, strange human girl.

That was when Selendrile knew he was in trouble. And he couldn't be more pleased.

A/N: So what'd you think? Short and sweet. Any interest in a sequel? Written in about ten minutes, I read something from a different fandom, and it sparked this idea in my head that I wanted to type out before I lost it. Please tell me what you think, consider it a favor to the author for writing it! :D
