RWBY does not belong to me, but to Rooster Teeth. This work of fiction is non-profitable.

So I ended up watching all four volumes that are currently out. Then this happened. Consider this a first (technically second) of a bunch of short fics.

Ladybug

It was in the middle of the night; the full moon, centred in the middle of the pitch-black sky, indicated as much from its high perch, fully visible from where Blake was sleeping. She wouldn't have known, had it not been from the gentle nudging she was receiving from an unknown visitor.

The brunette blinked, her Faunus heritage quickly allowing her vision in the dark and meeting the worried stare in silver pools. Normally, she would have chastised whoever dared to disturb her slumber but it was different now.

This wasn't just anyone waking her up and Blake immediately offered a kind smile towards her team leader. "What's the matter, Ruby?"

"I can't sleep…" A straight-forward answer, as always. It was one of many, many things Blake liked about the younger girl. "…Can I sleep in your bed tonight?"

Shy and honest; yet more traits the Faunus girl liked about Ruby.

The raven-haired beauty smiled as she scooted over, creating space as she lifted up the covers. "Did you have a bad dream?"

Ruby climbed into bed. Her slightly smaller form cuddled up against Blake's an arm snaking around the dark-haired girl's waist as she did. The team's leader nodded, already appearing to be at peace as her breathing became calm and slow.

Ruby Rose was many things; courageous, energetic, and open. She was also cute and, despite her courage, was still the "little-sister"-type of team RWBY, an innocent girl who arguably had a bit more to learn than her team.

Not that Blake minded that; she was more than happy to support their younger leader, help her grow and become a worthy captain and excelled huntress.

But for now, the Faunus girl was happy enough to support and comfort the redhead through the night, ensuring that Ruby would sleep well.

"Don't worry, Ruby," she whispered, embracing the redhead. The younger girl relaxed. "I'll chase the nightmares away."

"I know you will," Ruby replied. "You always do."

Right. This wasn't the first time they shared a bed for the night, and it wouldn't be the last. The two had grown close since their first interaction – something Blake had uncertain if she had wanted – and now… well…

"Get some sleep now," the dark-haired girl stated and pressed her lips against the redhead's forehead. "We have classes tomorrow."

"Mhm…" A soft sigh was her response as Ruby cuddled up to her. She looked so adorable.

"Blake?"

"Mm?"

"I like you." The older girl's heart skipped a beat. "I like you a lot. I dare even say that…Well… you know…I—"

Fingers gently hooked under the girl's chin and lifted her head up as one set of lips claimed another. It was brief, tender, but said more than words ever could.

"The feeling is mutual, you know that," Blake responded with a low chuckle. "Now sleep. We have a long day tomorrow."

Ruby giggled and nodded as she closed her eyes. Lulled by each other's calm breathing, the girls soon fell asleep, unaware that a third party smiled to herself, knowing that the red-haired girl was in safe hands.
