The sky was clouded over, lit only by the slight haze of the soon to be rising sun. A cool breeze rushed through the trees overhead of a tall woman.

Slanted, cat-like eyes, dark skin and ebony - almost violet - hair, she stood proud and beautiful under the trees, facing multiple (and all extravagant-looking) homes, all of which she knew belonged to captains.

The one she stood directly in front of, was the home of the 2nd Squad's captain, an old… friend if you will.

'Soi Fon…'

Rustling quietly under the thin sheets, Soi Fon decided upon screwing her eyes shut, wishing to drift back into a senseless sleep. Unfortunately, her conscious chose to overlook this, forcing the small captain to awaken and swing her legs over the side of the bed.

Running a hand through her mussed hair, she began to braid the two long locks, wrapping them in cloths. Slipping into her clothing, then into her cool demeanour, she stepped out of her home, wondering what to do so early.

She cursed herself, waking to see dawn, on her one day off too! With nothing to do, she began to stroll, feet taking her to places unknown.

Instead of leading her to places unknown…. It seemed as though they had led Soi Fon to place best left unknown…

Under the trees where she used to come and think – think about things she wished to forget…. past love, friendship and many words left unsaid.

The air was tense as she slowly approached the trees, head down. So when a small pat indicated the sound of someone appearing from the branched above, the Captain had every right to automatically jump into a fighting stance. But, as she did, a very familiar face stepped in front of her.

"Hello Soi Fon…" her velvety voice still as smooth as it was when she left, Yoruichi hadn't changed.

"Y-Yoruichi-sama! You're still here… I thought you had left already…" The cat-like woman shook her head, settling down on the soft grass. Soi Fon sat beside her, after Yoruichi gestured her down too. She shyly stared at her hands, wringing in her lap.

"I… I'm so sorry Soi Fon…. It wasn't supposed to be like that..." she repeated the words from their previous encounter, placing her dark hand over Soi Fon's pale ones.

With every passing second, Soi Fon focused on remaining cool, collected and emotionally stable… holding back tears as she attempted to speak.

"Why couldn't you have taken me with you?" she whispered, more to herself than her former captain, "You left me…."

The air was thick and silent, neither having to speak the apologies hanging between them.

Moving her hands to wrap around Soi Fon, catching the petite squad leader by surprise, Yoruichi gently tugged her into an embrace, burying her face into the crook of her neck.

Soi Fon slowly return the embrace, as she began to cry once more.

'I'm so sorry….' The small squeezes spoke for them, as the two woman began to clutch tighter and tighter to one another.

As the tears began to slow down to a mere misty-eyed look, Yoruichi pulled back from the embrace slowly. After a moment's pause, she closed her eye, placing a light kiss upon the forehead of Soi Fon.

'Forgive me.'

A small drabble – I like this a lot more than my other ones..

I am a huge Yoruichi/Soi Fon fan…

Please, Read, Review - and Critic is wonderful too!
