All Rachel could think of now was Ben. Dear sweet, kind Ben, who was the reliable one, who was the understanding one, who had been there for her all those times. Despite her history with Miles, she was never unfaithful to him. Miles had felt the same way, or so she thought. Then why did this just happen, again?

Suddenly Rachel felt Miles' palm caressing her back. She does not turn around. His breath is warm on the side of her neck.

"Miles, we cannot do this. You promised."

"Rachel, I cannot lose you again. I can't. Please stay."

"We don't have a choice," she replied. "I don't have a choice. This is the only way I know to right the wrong. To give a resemblance of redeeming myself like what you are trying to do now. You've got to let me go."

He tightened his arms around her. He knew the inevitable. "Just promise me one thing then," he whispered. "Promise me that, I don't care how you do it, but promise me that you will try to stay alive. Just stay alive, and I swear I will come and get you."
