"You look tired." I gave her a sharp, sardonic smile.
"That's because I am Daphne, I'm always so tired." My voice lowered as I spoke and she shot me a sad smile, her blue eyes glossy.
"This isn't good Trace, I'm worried."
"I know you are Daph, you're always worried. Maybe you should stop, it would be better for you if you did." She flinched at my soft words, knowing what I was hinting at.
"Don't you dare Tracey Mae Davis!" I shrugged halfheartedly before turning and leaving the library, her words hanging in the air behind me, echoing through my mind. Don't you dare Tracey Mae Davis!
"Sorry Daph." My whisper floated in the breeze as I made my way up to the Astronomy Tower. I walked to the edge before climbing the three rungs and looking down, loosely gripping the brick pillar next to me.
"Tracey! No!" I knew she would follow me, she needed to help people, to help me.
"I can't Daph! I can't do it anymore!" I shook my head in denial, tears welling in my eyes at the memory of my pain, of what my pain was doing to her.
"Please." She begged and I sobbed quietly, my tears blurring my vision.
"I'm so sorry Daph, I love you." Daphne fell to her knees now, sobbing breathlessly, knowing it was hopeless, I was already gone.
"I love you too." I shot her a heartbreaking smile and stepped over the edge, closing my eyes and flinging my arms out as I fell, peaceful in my impending death.
