Rise
She could feel the cold seeping into her bones. Pain radiated from her chest and the darkness flicked at the edge of her vision. Her arms and legs felt numb, tears involuntarily trickled down her pale cheeks and her hands grasped helplessly at the green grass beneath her body. Her vision fogged and she blinked rapidly, desperately trying to keep her gaze focused on his figure hovering over her.
"Stay with me Kate."
His voice echoed around her and her mind fought against her body's need to fall into unconsciousness.
"Kate, I love you… I love you Kate."
She smiled, her mind supplying the response her heart desired.
I love you too.
