Disclaimer: I do not own Life is Strange
A/N: I fell in love with this after I watched Pewdiepie's walkthrough of this game. It's a great game! Characters that I relate to or get attached to is my biggest weakness. When I love a character, I tend to write a fanfic about that specific fandom they belong to.
Before we start, I'd like to give you a heads-up. If you haven't read any of my fics yet then please be informed that I write dark, twisted, creepy or psycho-ish fics. Any reader who is under 18 or is not interested in Rated M fics then stop right here. I don't recommend that you go any further. If you do continue, please read at your own discretion. And if you are into these kind of fics then by all means, please enjoy.
Lastly, this is a work of fiction because I loved the original creation, I don't own anything. I'm simply writing to unleash my imagination. I'd appreciate to hear your thoughts or any feedback from you about this messed-up fic. Thank you very much, let us start!

My Life is Strange 001: Captain Spirit
October 1, 2013, Tuesday
I was walking to my classroom, carrying with me a set of photos that I had printed beforehand. My camera was hanging over my shoulder. I was not on any rush because I'm always an hour early. An early bird you could say. Arriving at the classroom, I am not surprised that there was no one there yet, there were no students - or so I thought.
There, a young lady with dirty blonde hair tied to a bun was leaning on a desk, she was facing the window where a good view of the school's empty lawn. No students walking around yet but Samuel could be seen walking around doing his job. This girl was holding on a pen and a notebook. I couldn't help but smile at her. Interesting student, different from the rest of her classmates. Very innocent but not naive, very kind and not a hypocrite, very pure and yet not proud.
Her name is Kate Beverly Marsh. I first met her when I first moved here 6 years ago. I was settling down back then and with such misfortune, I suffered a flat tire in the middle of the road. Kate and her family happened to see my call for help and helped me out. The next time we saw each other again, she was already in high school.
At school, students loved me in an instant. To the point that their flirting habits are not as subtle as before, it was already point-blank obvious. I am not into these kind of students, no matter what beauty they may show. For me, real beauty is not what is seen when someone faces the camera and poses with a smile. Real beauty is when someone takes a candid photo of a person, even if that person is not ready, the photo speaks.
I actually asked Ms. Marsh to be my assistant a few weeks ago and she openly accepts the responsibility, to which the other students - specifically Victoria Chase - did not agree to.
I walk to my table and carefully placed my things on top. With the silence in the room, it was almost impossible for me not to be heard. Kate turned to me, she didn't seem surprised though, she also does not seem to expect me either. "Good morning Mr. Jefferson." she greeted politely with a smile.
"Well good morning, Ms. Marsh." I greeted back as I stare at her smile. That shy innocent beam, it's so genuine, so sincere. I want to take a picture of it - of her - I want to imprint in my memories and my camera what her smile would be like before I... "So up early in the morning, you excited with today's class?" I try to play it safe, keeping a casual conversation with her. She would never know this conversation has an underlying motive; to know more about her. Is there more to it than her cheerful personality?
"I wake up early to pray." she replied. Ah yes, she is a believer. One part of her that I've been disregarding since we met. "If I go back to sleep after praying, I feel like I would be wasting my prayer with my idleness."
I simply nod to pretend that I acknowledge what she said and start to prepare my camera for a little test shot. "You draw instead?" I asked while adjusting the camera settings.
"Just trying to figure out what I kind of entry I will submit to the contest." she replied. That voice, so gentle, so soft. I want to hear her speak more, MORE. "Staring at the sky helps me think."
"Mm," I finally finished preparing the camera. The only thing left is for me to ask, "Say Ms. Marsh, would you be fine with being my model for today?" I tried to sound as friendly as I could but not to sound eager. I controlled the shaking of my hands, that itching feeling to take that shot.
She was taken aback by my request, I heard a really soft squeak from her that made me smirk out of my control. "M- Model?" she repeated. How can she be shocked of it? She's perfect! Perhaps her confidence wavers because of what Victoria and the other students tells her.
"Yes. I am forbidden to tell anyone yet, but I promise you'd be the first to know of this project once it is done." I tried to reassure her. Telling her of my plans for her would be a major spoiler on her part. I'd like to keep her out of the loop and surprise her. "Are you okay with that?"
"Well..."
This was the first time she hesitated to respond to a request of mine. So I evaluate the previous requests I had with her, what is the difference, why on those times she was open and willing. But this time around, she was hesitant and unable to give me a quick answer. From asking her to collect papers to being my assistant, it was all about responsibility in class. This request I have now is a personal one. Hmm... while all the female students seems to be trusting towards me, is she not interested in me or my works?
"It's alright." I tell her. If I retract the request then I'll be saving her the time to overthink of a polite way to turn me down. Maybe I can try to subtly take pictures of her instead. "Maybe it's a little rude to ask you for something that I can't explain."
"..I'd actually like to Mr. Jefferson," she begins to say. The excitement just pumped my heart to beat extra fast. I know she had a problem coming up next so I listened impatiently, "but I don't want to be receive too much attention. The last thing I want is for my parents to hear about my classmates vandalizing my room and calling me a 'slut'." when words came out of her lips, she immediately covered her mouth in regret. She didn't notice that I was already right beside her. "I'm sorry Mr. Jefferson, I didn't mean to-"
"If that's what you're worried of," I place a hand on her shoulder, I want to feel her. Such fragile body, "let me clarify this request then." I tell her and she looked up at me. "This project is our little secret for now. No one needs to know until it's done." I sound almost devious, but it would be the only way to convince her to willingly work with me on this.
I can see now that the worry is washed off from her face, what a relief. "Okay Mr. Jefferson, count me in." she says. Oh yes, that smile is back. I love it. I want to pinch her cheek and touch her chin. But I need self-control. It would be too much physical contact with her in one day.

As classes began, I was discussing about the contest, showing them different samples of previous entries and previous winners. I want to inspire these kids to capture what I want them to capture.
We were interrupted when Principal Wells knocks on the frame of the door and I see a young girl standing behind him. Must be a new student. I tell the class to give us a moment as I approach Principal Wells and he told me to take care of the new student. Indeed. So I guide this new student in front of class, she seems shy and timid like Kate but she lacks the cheerful side. Unless this is only because she is in uncharted territory. Interesting.
"Class," I called their attention, "we have a new student today. Please welcome her warmly."
It's weird how when I instructed them to welcome this student, they began to murmur with each other instead. So I knelt down to the girl's level and whispered to her, "Can you introduce yourself to the class? So we'll get to know you better?"
She nods at me. Good girl. "Hi everyone." she said. Her voice was not so loud but also not that weak. Everyone seemed to hear her fine. "My name is Maxine Caufield, Max for short. I uh, I love photography." after finishing her sentence, she looked at me, as if signaling me that it's all she had to say. I smile at her and put my hand on her back.
"Thank you very much Max, you can take that empty seat over there."
I watched - everyone did actually - as Max walks over to the empty seat at the back. With all our eyes on her, the stares must be very unwelcoming for her so I need to do something to break the ice. Otherwise this poor girl will not bloom the way I was hoping she would.
"So Max," I will begin the ice breaker, "My name is Mark Jefferson. I will be your art and photography teacher here in Blackwell Academy." I say and I noticed that thin smile that formed across her face, priceless! It was so serene, so pure! "Why won't everyone introduce themselves too? And share to the whole class your favorite art, photo, literature, whatever it may be." I encouraged the class.
Victoria was the first to stand up full of confidence. I am not surprised. "My name is Victoria Maribeth Chase. I am a Vortex Club member and I love Mr. Jefferson's entry for the "Wilderness Contest". It was very detailed and the photo itself was explaining everything about the life of a gazelle. Well-captured and well-done."
"Mmhmm, thank you Victoria," and she sits down. "Who's next?"
Another student stands up. "Hi I'm Brooke Scott. Let's be honest with each other, I am not a fan of art and all that, but I do believe in the power of science." she says shortly before sitting down.
"And I'm Stella Hill. I know a lot of things going on in this school, who knows, I may become some sort of journalist," she said with a shrug and also chuckled, "I'll be sure to spread the word that you're new Max." the class laughed a bit at her joke, but I remained a poker-face on that one.
"Yo Justin Williams." he points at himself, "Let's not be strangers, if you guys want to thrash or if you can do a noseslide, we're going to be buds!" not as interesting as it seems for me. Max seemed enlightened to hear him though.
"Hayden Jones here, I'm a Vortex Club member, maybe I just want to party." he joked, earning small chuckles from his classmates, mostly his fellow Vortex club members. "I like art but I'm not that impressed with details, just if it's interesting."
Next up, "Alyssa Anderson, if you want to know more, let's talk after class." she said as short as possible and her classmates started their 'ooohs' to tease her as she sat down. Hmm, quite interesting. I'd highly depend on her innocence so we'll see about that.
"Zachary Riggins. I'm also a Vortex Club member, it's fun there and the transparency is what makes a party fun. Why not try it out? We can take pictures together and maybe submit it to the contest." these kids are mostly joshing around. Could be fun yes, so I can play along.
"Taylor Christensen. Hi let's see each other in Vortex Club!"
Everyone laughed. The introductions turned up to be some sort of advertising for the others to join the Vortex Club parties. To which I don't mind. But I was really hoping to learn more of my students... it could be that they are not worth the time and this just cuts down the list of my targets.
To my relief, Kate Marsh was the next one in line. She stands up and I give her my full attention while my arms are crossed. "Uhm, my name is Kate Marsh. I found interest reading Captain Spirits." she was not able to add another word when Victoria added a side comment.
"Everything about you is about religion, is there anything new?" she says and the rest snickered. I see this kind of bullying everyday and I tolerate it on purpose with a good reason. Except today.
I wanted to say something in Kate's defense but in addition to my surprise, Max Caufield - the new kid - spoke on Kate's behalf it seemed. "Captain Spirits is actually a famous novel about the life of a female photographer and her journey to becoming the famous photographer known as 'Captain Spirit'."
Murmurs, more murmurs, these students won't give the timid ones a break. But that just made me more interest also in Ms. Max Caufield from now on. I ended up smiling at her answer, no one noticed because everyone was busy talking about the new kid. Maybe it's about time I step in. "That is correct Ms. Caufield." I compliment her, I want Victoria to feel intimidated by the new transfer, to envy Max Caufield. "Have you finished reading that book?"
"No sir."
"I suggest you do, it's a fun read at every page." I encourage her in a friendly way yet motivating. Then I glance over at Kate, giving a small smile for a moment. "Do you write book reports Ms. Marsh?" I purposely just focus my attention on these two for now. I want their classmates to feel this jealousy that I may have favorites in class. "Would you be okay to write a book report about this book with Ms. Caufield?" yes push them together. Two birds in one stone.
"Uhm, of course. I can do that." Kate agreed. I knew it. As my observation proves to me that she will easily agree to my requests as long as it does not come to her as a personal request of mine.
"Mr. Jefferson, isn't it off topic to actually do that? Or are we all making fun of Kate friggin' Marsh and Max new-kid Caufield?" funny you brought it up Victoria. Let me give you an answer-
"Captain Spirits is a book that Mr. Jefferson wrote. Because of the lack of funds, the book should've cancelled its release but someone with enough money bought the rights to the book and published it." Kate explained. These girls are just full of surprises. I can't help but chuckle at the flow of this conversation. It's so priceless. Everyone gave off shocked expressions but also with disbelief.
"Yes Ms. Marsh is correct," I confirmed and now they were just stunned. "It's a complicated long story that we can talk about another time. For now, let us focus on what kind of photos will you submit to our contest."
Hi thank you for reading. This is the first chapter and sorry if it's slow-paced. I need to introduce some stuff and get to know characters. The story will center on our psycho teacher Mr. Jefferson as the main antagonist of this fic. Our main character would be Max, Kate, Chloe... and I guess it depends how this story would flow.
And yes, Max has rewind powers.
Be warned again, after introduction, dark moments will come!
