Brooke had gone home. After seeing her mom, it was a total shocker. And she also had that project to worry about. She glanced at her alarm clock, which told her it was 5:26 pm.
Do not think about what happened today, Brooke told herself. But she couldn't help it. She had yelled at her mom and her mom had walked off. She didn't want to sound so terrible, but she had. She hadn't told anyone yet. There was a knock on the door." Come in," Brooke called, trying to keep her voice calm. Sam entered the room." Hey, I just got some more articles on our project."
Sam handed her a few pieces of paper but then she noticed Brooke's face." Let me guess, not good enough?"
Brooke shook her head." No, their great but it's just…"
Sam sat with her." Did Nicole give you a hard time or something? You know she's like that." Sam put the papers into a neat pile and settled them on Brooke's desk. Brooke signed." Don't tell anyone, but I saw my mom at the library today and I sort of yelled at her." She saw Sam's face." So is this bad?" she asked." Did your mom storm out?"
" Yeah, she did and I feel terrible!" Brooke put her face in her hands." But I was a little mad because she just left me like that." Sam comforted her." You better tell your dad soon. He might want to know." And Sam stood up and left. Brooke nodded. Sure, she'd tell her dad. But she was worried what his reaction would be.
