Was doing a bit of casual computer cruising the other day and came across a video we took when our parents weren't home. Our cousin was over and my brothers filled up the bin with water and wheeled me up our cul-de-sac. But, blow me down, who should happen to pull up then? My dear mother. "Rhyles, why are you in the bin?"

There were many things two teenagers and their three younger brothers could do on a hot summer's day, left alone in a house. Traipse down to the local swimming pool or the park; raid the freezer for ice blocks, even set up the sprinkler in the backyard.

Emptying the recycle bin, filling it with water and having Rachel Rafter climb inside wasn't part of the plan.

"Where are you taking me?" she laughed, as Jake Barton wheeled her down the driveway.

"For a stroll", he said casually, purposely taking the bump and making her squeal.

Alex Barton and Nathan and Ben Rafter were in hysterics, Nathan armed with the video camera.

"Jake!" she squealed, as she jolted, water splashing up and hitting her face. "Not down the road!"

"Let's walk to school!"

"Yeah, let's go and pick up our dinner!"

"Argh! Jake!"

"Chill, Rach!"

"There's a car coming".

"Let's go faster! Broom broom broom broom broom!"

"You're a menace to society, get me off the road!"

"Backwards!"

"Jake!"

"Faster!"

"Oh my God, I'm going to fall out!"

"How is she going to get out?" '

"Do I just tip, or are you guys going to bring over a chair…?"

"Just tip".

"Shut up Ben!"

"Bump!"

"Jake!"

"Sorry".

"He's not sorry, Rachel!"

"Really, Alex?"

"I actually do hear a car coming".

"Where's it coming from?"

"Bump!"

"Argh!"

Jake wheeled her onto the footpath once more, laughing as Rachel sang to herself.

"Open wide, come inside, it's Playschool!"

Jake spun the bin around, bolting towards the Rafters' driveway with his best friend shrieking in front of him. The car slowing down beside them looked awfully familiar, and he realised why when Ben shoved a plastic chair next to the bin, allowing his sister to climb out.

"Told you I heard a car- oh it's your MUM!" Jake said gleefully, as Rachel clambered out of the bin.

"Hi Mum!" she sang.

"What are you doing?" Julie asked curiously, not questioning why her daughter had been standing in a recycle bin.

"Just having some fun. Keeping cool. The usual". Rachel shrugged, exchanging grins with Jake.

Because with those two, it was nothing out of the ordinary.
