Homework Bound
By 'Xevious' Pat Banks
Man, I'm smart. I fooled them all!No one has a clue.
They all think I'm really sick.
Struck down with the flu.
I forgot about my homework.
It was due today.
So I faked a cough this morning
And I got my way.
This is the life of luxury.
The TV is all mine.
I can check out all my favorite shows
As I kick back and recline.
I'm waited on both hand and foot
Since I'm not feeling well.
The Professor never strays too far
So I won't have to yell.
And there's extra benefits.
Ones you can't foresee.
My sisters never come around
Which is fine with me.
Neither wants to catch my bug.
I'll cough if they get close.
By hacking up a bunch of phlegm
I make it sound real gross.
The nagging and the baby talk
Always strikes a nerve.
Now I've got my peace and quiet
Which frankly I deserve.
You'd think I'd be on easy street
With my clever act.
But actually I am leaving out
One important fact.
I knew my scheme was foolproof,
But how was I to know
That while sleeping through the night
We'd get a foot of snow.
In my rush for victory
I acted out in haste.
And now that Pokey Oaks is closed
My entire day's a waste.
With my face pressed to the window
I watch my sisters play
In a winter wonderland
Much to my dismay.
Yeah, my plan worked out just fine.
I'm staying home from school,
But instead of being a genius
It is I who plays the fool.
