While on a break, I am working on really short one-shots based on the after game lives of some of the game characters.

Hunting for Mystery

There's rumour on Gran Pulse of a feral woman who roams the plains alone, wearing only a pelt made of behemoth skin and living in caves. It is said if you come across her, she screams at you in some unknown language and chases you away with an army of the birds she keeps as company. People have come to know her as Crazy Chocobo Lady.

They say she was once a l'Cie endowed with extraordinary powers and strength. Once her mission was complete, she found it difficult to reintegrate into regular society and therefore abandoned it. They also say she learned how to speak the language of the benevolent bird race and gave up her own human tongue to be able to communicate with them.

Having never encountered her myself, there are wild conjectures as to her appearance. Some say she is seven feet tall while some swear she is no taller than average height. Most put her age range between 24 and 35, although it is hard to tell since she is perpetually covered in mud. Her hair is said to be long and matted, either being dark blonde or a dull pink, but it is always said that she has icy blue eyes. She may or may not know how to fly.

Since she is believed to be superhumanly fast, obtaining a photograph has been difficult so my news publication is putting up a hefty reward to anybody who is successful in doing so. I myself will be going out into the wilderness to also seek definitive proof of the existence of Crazy Chocobo Lady.

According to research, she may respond if you call her by her actual name (if my source is correct) which military records list as Sergeant Claire Farron, also known as Lightning.

As we all know, the wilderness of Gran Pulse is not something to take lightly. Lucky, my boyfriend who will be accompanying me is former PSICOM, so I will be protected.

Wish us luck!

Kyrie Quik of The Pulse: Gossip Magazine

Epilogue

The Pulse: Gossip Magazine would like to report the tragic loss of one of our rising star reporters Kyrie Quik. The body of her boyfriend was found half eaten in the northern part of the Steppes. We can only assume the worst for Kyrie as fragments of her tattered clothes were found not far from the corpse. She was 22 years old.

Authors note: I do realize this is a weird little story and that Lightning wasn't actually so anti-social in the game that this was the most logical ending for her. But with nobody left to protect, no obligations to anybody, I think she still would crave adventures. It's all just rumours anyway.
