Bert was missing her, really bad. She had been gone for two months. Yes, it's only 8 weeks, but for him, those eight weeks felt like eternity.

He walked around his quaint, little flat, watching his feet walk along the old beige carpet, until he heard a knock at his door. He stopped suddenly. Could it be her? he thought. He grabbed the knob and opened the door very slowly, unsure of who it was. Sadly, it wasn't her. It was his fellow sweep, Charlie.

"'Ow's it goin' mate?" he asked

"Alright, I guess."

"You look a bit down, Bert! Is she 'ere yet?"

"Well, whad'ya think?" he answered sarcastically.

"Oh. Well, I was just comin' by to check on ya. I need to—"

"'ey, 'old on a sec…" Bert interrupted as he saw something up thing the sky.

Charlie, flabbergasted, slowly turned around. Sure enough, they both the saw the silhouette of a lady with an umbrella, slowly heading towards the ground.

He had always loved the feeling of an embrace, but when it came to this, it was like a dream. He had loved Mary, ever since he met her. He was only twelve. And now, the love was stronger than ever before. As soon as they let go, Mary had a bright smile on her face. The warm smile you get when you gave them a bouquet of flowers, or a kiss. He thought it was the perfect time to do so. He couldn't help it, she was so vulnerable. He pecked her on the lips. It was only a half a second, but it was the best half a second of his whole life. Mary gasped, appalled at his breach of taste.

"Bert! How dare you!"

But she wasn't mad. She actually quite enjoyed it.
