I'll Be Home For Christmas
By: Riley
Summary – After his father's death Barry only wants one thing for Christmas.
Flashes of yellow streaked across Central City, mixing with the snowflakes that dusted the ground and glittered through the air. Plumes of snow twisted and twirled up through the air as he blew by, leaving a snow storm for those he shot by. Little kids shrieked at the sudden display while their parents looked on in wonder, debating on whether or not they had really just seen The Flash.
As far as they were concerned they could've seen Santa, all Barry wanted was for the good cheer of the holidays to be spread. So once the night of Christmas Eve winded down he set out to work; racing into Toy and Clothing stores, department stores and malls, gathering things for the less fortunate families around the city. It made him smile every time he went to a house and dropped off the packages, speed-ringing the doorbell at the same time, and watched as the families came out on the front porch to their new gifts, at the homeless that became surprised at the new coats, socks, shoes, and blankets that appeared nearby.
The smiles were contagious and filled his heart with a warmth he hadn't felt in weeks. Once everything was passed out Barry went to fulfill the only gift he wanted that year.
Taking a breath, Barry watched as it condensed in front of his face before walking carefully over the frozen grass. It crunched under his feet, the only sound following around him. Ironically, it was haunting.
Barry sat down in front of his parents' gravestones and pulled a blanket around his shoulders. After festooning their tombstones with a string of lights that Cisco created to run off Barry's lightning, he wrapped his hands around the mug of tea he brought and waited quietly.
He waited there until the clock struck midnight. When it did, he leaned forward and placed a photographed picture of his parents between the headstones.
"Merry Christmas," he whispered.
The snow continued to fall.
The End
