Chapter 1
"Zori! Zorianna Kim! Where are you?"
Zorianna tried not to laugh from her upside-down perch on the chandelier, her elegant features lighting up as she looked down at her father.
"Zorianna! Your tutor is looking for you! Come out or you're grounded!"
Zori sighed, she knew it was an empty threat, but still, never take a chance with him. She took one last suppressed giggle at the expense of her father, and jumped cautiously onto the balcony.
"Up here Daddy."
Her father spun on his heel, stalking towards her.
"Zorianna, you are fifteen! Running from your tutors is unacceptable and immature!"
The teen looked down at her father, trying not to grin. Her father's usually sophisticated features were twisted in fury.
"I'm sorry Daddy." She slid down the banister, landing near her furious father and staring up at his tall frame.
"Zorianna Kim, do that again and I swear-"
The door bell rang. Saved by the bell, Zorianna said as she ran for the door, beating the butler to the door and flinging it open.
"Oh, hey Bruce!" She flashed a smile at her father's friend's frame and vanished.
"Zorianna!" Her father took several deep breaths.
"Rough day Jake?" Bruce tried not to laugh at his friend's expense. He did get over-reactive when it came to his daughter.
"Rough enough."
Bruce said what he always said in these situations, "She'll straighten out eventually."
"I hope so."
Zorianna had run off to the one place she was safe from her father, and far away from her prissy tutor, Ms. Barton. Reaching the kitchen, she grabbed an ice cream tub from the large freezer, and finding her best friend washing dishes.
"Hey Andy."
The strong teen turned, and recognizing Zori, grinned.
"I think my day just improved considerably."
"I do have that effect."
"I was referring to the ice cream."
Zori laughed, and held the tub protectively, "My ice cream."
"Whatever you say, your majesty, it is your mansion after all."
"You shut up."
"I think I won't."
Both laughed. It was turning into a good day.
At least they hoped.
