A Walk on a Beach Somewhere

His eyes fluttered open as he heard the sound of seagull's squawking in the distance as a warm breeze washed over his face.

He slowly sat up, his hands sinking into the sand. Gently he scooped some into his hand and watched as the white grainy substance slipped through his fingers. As he stood up he saw a crystal clear ocean that spanned for miles the tide rocking the water back and forth along the coastline.

Looking down at his clothes he ran his hands down his body in confusion noticing he was wearing a white flannel shirt and pants and he didn't have any shoes on. In any other situation if he found himself in a strange place he would be panicked and ready to fight but for some reason he just felt calm…a calm that he had never experienced before.

"Someone's early. I was hoping I wouldn't see you for a very long time John."

His eyes widened at the sound of her voice as he turned around.

"Joss?" He quickly looked her over she was wearing the same white out fit his was as she stood there smiling at him before she held her arms out.

"Can I at least get a hug? I missed you."

Without thinking twice he reached out and embraced her, burying his nose in her hair in haling her scent as she gently stroked his back. "I missed you too…I missed you so much Joss"

After what felt like an eternity he finally pulled away from her making sure to keep his hands gripping her elbows.

He looked up and down the empty beach "So this is the end…is this heaven… because I think it's missing the fluffy clouds and pearly gates."

Joss smiled as she looked around "No it's not heaven yet."

"Then where are we and what are you doing here?"

"You can call it the waiting area I guess."

"The waiting area…what are we waiting for?

"I was waiting for you though I was hoping I'd be waiting a lot longer."

John smiled "You waited for me?"

"Like you said we're stuck together." Joss smiled as she grabbed his hand as she face them north.

John looked down the coastline of the beach, although it was far away he could make out a small white light "Is that…?"

Joss looked up at him "Some place better."

"Looks far way" John replied as he looked down at her.

"It's a bit of a hike to get there, but I think we can make it." Joss smiled back.

John smiled as he gripped her hand tighter "We can make it this time…together we can make it."
