Summary: JD has a secret no one knows about, and he intends to keep it that way.

Not many people knew about it because it was nothing something of which JD often spoke. In fact, he kept it carefully hidden in a special place. In college and in med school, he had kept in the very back of his desk drawer, far out of the reach of prying eyes. When he shared an apartment with Turk and Carla, he'd kept it tucked underneath the frame of his mattress where no self-respecting burglar would look. When he lived with Elliot he did the same. When he lived in a tent, it was harder to hide. After careful consideration, JD had managed to cut his scooter's seat in such a way that he could tuck it in without it falling out.
His treasure box was always kept hidden. Inside was a small key.
To what, no one knew. It was not mentioned in JD's will, nor was it in anyone's memory that he had spoken of it. So it was replaced in JD's treasure box, and the treasure box was placed in JD's pocket. So the secret was buried with him.
