She walked along the dirt road. Her hands were cold and chapped as she kept trying to warm them. The light was fading and still she was miles from her destination. She could hear the wolves howl in the nearby woods, and she could see her breath in front of her face. She was trembling, but not just with the early winter's cold. She was cold, yet she was also anxious to see the place. She had only been there once, about a year previously, when she first met him. That day was the day her life had all but ended. He had stolen her heart but then sent her away. She had almost found her way back to him, if she didn't freeze to death first. She was wearing three coats and boots up to her knees and she was still freezing. She only hoped to reach him soon. She kept walking.
Night fell.
HOOOOOOOOWL!!!!!!!
She heard the wolves more closely than before. It was like they were following her. She started walking faster. She figured she was only about half a mile away now and the moon was above her in the sky. She started running. Soon she saw smoke against the cloudless night sky. She ran faster. She reached the door of the ramshackle cabin and wrenched it open. He was sitting in front of the fire with his eyes closed. She turned around and shut the door.
He heard her running outside before she burst through the door. He'd been expecting her for the last few days. He sent her away callously. He hadn't realized how much he missed her until he saw her running toward his cabin. He decided to feign sleep. He heard her burst through the door. He waited only a few seconds until he crept up behind her silently.
She turned from shutting the door right into his arms.
"Oh Gabriel, how I've missed you! I was searching everywhere for you."
"Oh Ebony, I missed you as well! I shouldn't have sent you away. I just didn't want to hurt you."
"You wouldn't have hurt me, I trust you."
He shushed her. Then, slowly and carefully, he leaned down and passionately kissed her on the lips. Then before he could lose control he stopped. He didn't want to hurt her. He was conflicted. He wanted her so badly and yet he didn't want to hurt her. The only way he could have her would hurt her.
