A/N: For the sake of this story, just assume breaking the curse brought Graham back.
"I don't know if I can do this." Emma repeats for the fifth time, while pacing back and forth across the room. Graham gets up off the couch and walks over to her. "What are you worried about? You already unknowing became best friends with your mother and you even wound helping save your father. You needn't worry."
Emma had been doing her best to avoid Mary Margaret and David, or Snow White and Prince Charming as they now knew themselves to be. Which was easier said than done since Emma lived with one of them. She had been looking for her parents all her life and now that she found them she realized just how unprepared she was for this whole little family reunion of sorts.
"Yeah but they know me just as Emma Swan, not their daughter. It's been 28 years, what if I'm not what they're expecting? What if I'm just a disappointment to them? Or that they decide they don't even want me back now!" It isn't until Graham rests his hands on her shoulders that she stops her worried rambling. Looking her in the eyes he tells her, "Emma. When your parents gave you up, they did it to save you. Giving you up was the hardest thing they ever did, they have always wanted you." He quietly adds, "That isn't always the case for everyone."
She stares up at him with slight confusion at first. They've never had the chance to talk about his past before, so she isn't familiar with how he grew up. But that last comment gives her a clue. "Is that what happened with you?" She asks. Graham nods solemnly. "I was abandoned as a child too. But my parents on the other hand, abandon me because they didn't want me, because to them... I was just a mistake." His voice is suddenly filled with a sad loneliness that she herself knows all to well. Emma reassuringly wraps her arms tightly around him so that he knows that she's here for him.
"It's their loss, they have no idea what they missed out on." She says softly into his chest. He gives a breathy laugh, then smiles before giving her a gentle kiss on top of the head. "Thank you." Her words mean more to him than she probably even knows. Emma is the first person in his life to ever truly care for him like this. On top of that, she gave him back the one thing he thought he'd never have again. His heart.
As they step back from each other Graham reassures her again, "Don't worry. You'll do great, I know it." He's so confident about it that she actually starts to believe him. The idea of a family is still such a new concept to her. Despite her anxieties she is certain about one thing, she's glad to have him back.
