Happy Birthday Ten Ten
A brown eyed girl looked at her target. She threw a dagger and it hit its point straight on.
"Looking good," a guy said behind her. She smiled slightly when she turned around to see who it was.
"Hey Neji," Ten Ten muttered.
Neji looked her over," What's wrong? You seem upset."
She glared at her clear eyed friend, "Do you know what today is?"
"Um…March 8? 9? Why?" he asked.
She took one of her knives and aimed right above his head. She tossed it and it hit the tree behind him.
"It's March 9, my birthday," Ten Ten told him.
Neji ran his fingers through his brown hair," Happy Birthday." He was still shocked at how close that knife came to his head.
"Yeah well it's not important. Just another day," she said and took off.
Neji looked at the clock. He knew it was Ten Ten's birthday. He planned a surprise party for her! When he went looking for her earlier he couldn't find her and he told everyone to come at 7:00. It was now 6:57.
"Where is she?" Lee asked him.
Neji shook his head, "I don't know."
"Maybe you should go look for her."
"Maybe."
"Yeah I mean since people will be here soon."
"Your right."
"When I say go look for her I mean right now!"
Neji glared at him. He had know idea where to start looking She could be anywhere!
"I'll be back," he finally declared.
Neji first looked in the woods, by the river, and finally at her house. Nowhere!
"This is impossible," he muttered. He was walking down the street when he finally saw her.
"What are you doing?" Neji called.
Ten Ten looked up. She was standing in front of a pet shop.
"When I was three I asked for a puppy for my birthday. Every year I would ask for a pup, but instead I would get dolls. I used to sharpen their hands, pull off their arms, and throw them because I never got my puppy," she said.
Neji looked at the little dogs in the window and hugged Ten Ten. When he let her go she looked taken aback.
"What was that for?" she asked.
Neji shrugged, "I hate seeing you upset. I didn't really forget your birthday. I actually planned a surprise party for you. Surprise!"
She started laughing. Neji looked frightened. Ten Ten was going hysterical!
"Come on then," she said, "I'll act surprised."
"I'll catch up. I want to be out for a couple of minutes."
"Alright", Ten Ten said and walked away.
"Happy Birthday to you!" everyone sang. Ten Ten leaned over and blew out her candles.
"Hey can I talk to you for sec," Neji said pulling her aside.
"Sure," she replied. Neji took her hand and they walked outside. Sakura was outside holding a leash.
"Oh my-" she started to say and then turned and kissed Neji.
"I'll leave you two alone," Sakura giggled and gave the leash to Ten Ten.
Ten Ten scooped up the black puppy," What should we call him?"
Neji smiled. He was still surprised by the kiss.
"Dagger," he finally said.
"Thanks for the best birthday ever!"
