Cops, Heroes, and Villains

The Bug Catcher
Hello, everyone and welcome to my third story that I will be working on alongside This Mortal Koil, The Lizardmen Chronicles rewrite (which will be renamed Children of the Old Ones) and tow other stories whose titles will be revealed later down the line. This will be a Multi-Crossover story. The Works included are Adam-12, Marvel, DC comics, Street Fighter, RWBY, and others. Adam-12 is my favorite cop show and I am somewhat surprised it doesn't have more stories, but I digress.
This will follow a Modern-day Adam-12 as they patrol New York City fighting crime while somehow always getting involved in both the superhero and supernatural worlds. And Police Officer Pete Malloy finding romance everywhere he goes.
Hope you enjoy.
1st Log: Beginning of Watch
It was just another day in New York City. At least, that is how Police Officer Pete Malloy felt. Just another day of busting criminals and doing what is right. Sometimes though he just wants to hang up his hat and call it a day and leave, almost did after his partner and friend got shot in the line of duty. But he changed his mind after getting his new partner and now best friend Jim Reed. Jim was different from Pete in a lot of ways; Pete is a bachelor and proud of it while Jim is happily married to his high-school sweetheart Jean and has a beautiful child. Jim is optimistic yet competent while Pete is a little cynical yet shrewd. Together they make a great team and are the best of friends. Little did they know that things were going to change drastically for them.
(Late one night in the middle of April.)
Even though Winter's chill was slowly leaving in favor of Spring's warmth, the nights were still cold in New York City. Driving down one of the numerous roads that comprised this great city was a 2015 Ford Taurus Police Interceptor. It's white and blue colors shining brightly in the reflection of the city's lights. The code number A-12 on its trunk. It was an older model but dependable none the less.
In the car are our heroes (of this particular story anyway) with P-2 Police Officer Pete Malloy driving P-1 police Officer Jim Reed riding shotgun. At the moment Jim is telling Pete about his morning. "...so then me and Jean were thinking of moving the entire living room around this weekend." He finishes, looking at his partner.
Pete glances away from the road for a second to before returning to his driving. "What are you asking me for?" He asks in humor, a small smile upon his face.
"Come on Pete, help a guy out here. Jean thinks it is a good idea but I'm not so sure." Jim pleads.
"Look, I'm hardly the best person to ask. I mean, my apartment barely has anything which could qualify as a living room, so I doubt I can help." Pete explains.
"Well, what about Mrs. O'Brian?" Jim asks, referring to Pete's Landlady. "Maybe she has some ideas?"
Pete laughs, shaking his head. "Good luck with that." His landlady still hasn't forgiven Pete for the whole having her purse stolen incident. Even though there was nothing Pete could do about it.
Jim shrugs, simply planning to ask her next time he meets her. So he decides to change the subject. "On a different note. Still planning to buy that boat you were telling me about?"
Pete begins to respond but is cut off by the Interceptor's police radio. "1-Adam-12, 1-Adam-12 a call just came in. Unknown trouble at the abandoned warehouse district. 1-Adam-12 handle Code 1."
Jim grabs the receiver. "1-Adam-12, Roger." He turns to Pete. "What do you think?"
"I think trouble," Pete says with a grimace, stepping on the gas.
(In one of the abandoned warehouses)
Tatiana 'Tanya' Rasputin doesn't understand how it came to this. Just four months ago she was happily working with her parents and her little sister Illyana on their farm in Russia. Then one day during a particularly hot and dry week some idiot thought it was a good idea to leave a campfire going. By the end of the day, most of the Rasputin Farm was razed. They were already having a difficult time paying the bills due to a bad yield the year before, the wildfire simply put the final nail in the coffin as it were. Tanya's parents had no choice but to sell what was left of the farm and use the money to get them away from collectors. Her father believed that coming to America was the best option.
'How wrong we were.' Thought Tanya as she got hit in the face with a metal bat. Her assailants were part of the local Mob that worked for Hammerhead, the de facto crime boss of New York City. Though it used to be a man called the Kingpin but he was arrested for tax evasion of all things. But now that the Kingpin was in prison, Hammerhead now controlled the city's criminal underworld. Now, you're probably asking yourself, what does have to with Tatiana and her family? Why was she being assaulted with a bat in an abandoned warehouse? Well, the answer lies in a simple yet long string of events. After landing in New York City, her father instantly made a start in finding a job. Luckily enough, he was able to find one at a construction site while Tatiana's Mother found a job at the neighborhood market. But Tatiana began to grow restless in the large city, being used to wide open spaces then moving into the almost claustrophobic spaces was proving troublesome for her. She started to get into fights with both her parents (which she has never done before) and at time complete strangers in the streets. Soon she found herself becoming part of an underground fighting ring, which she became quite good in, most likely due to her ability. For you see, Tatiana is a Mutant. A sub-race of humans who are born with amazing powers. Her ability lets her whole body become solid steel, which you can imagine is very useful in a fighting ring. She very quickly gains a reputation as one of the toughest brawlers in the city, obtaining the name of Colossus. Unfortunately, her fame made her arrogant and her arrogance led to this, her face being hammered by a bat. You see, during one of her matches she was told to throw the fight, but her newfound prideful nature wouldn't allow it. Thus she won the fight, not knowing that the other fighter was one of Hammerhead's goons. They were not happy, to be sure. So they decided to teach her a lesson. They knew they couldn't harm her due to her mutant ability, so they kidnapped her sister Illyana, made Tatiana come to the abandoned warehouse district, and threatened to harm her sister if she didn't do as they said. Which finally leads us to current events.
"You really should have tossed in the towel, you piece of Russian shit." Her assailant remarks casually as he hits her again with the metal bat. His two buddies holding Illyana hostage.
"Sestra! (Sister!)." Illyana yells in grief, tears pouring down her cheeks. "Otpusti yeye! (Let her go!)" She yells at the mobsters.
"Oh, we got a feisty one here!" The goon holding her left arm laughs.
"Yeah, like her sister here." The goon holding her right says in agreement.
Tatiana tries to get up, but her attacker simply kicks her back down. "And stay down!" He says. He turns to his compatriots and the restrained Illyana. "Perhaps your little sister won't be so stubborn." He starts raising the bat up…
"No! Leave her alone!" Tatiana yells in anger and terror.
Illyana watches the bat in pure fear, she closes her eyes and waits for the blow. 'Someone please...help us.' She pays in silence.
"POLICE, FREEZE! PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR!" Yells a voice. It seems Illyana's prayers were answered.
The mobsters swerve their heads to see two cops pointing their firearms at them. "Let the girl go." The one on the right orders calmly, his strawberry blond hair shining under the few lights that worked in the warehouse. He looks at the one with the bat. "And you, step away and drop your weapon slowly."
Tatiana's assailant drops his bat, kicking it towards the cops. "Sure thing, just don't shoot." He asks in a timid manner, losing all his bravado quite quickly.
"On the ground. Hands behind your heads, all of you!" The Cop then orders. His partner moving to secure the criminals. As he is starting to cuff them, one of the gangsters jumps up and grabs Illyana, pulling a small revolver out and putting to her head. "Try anything cop and the little brat gets it!" He yells, his face a combination of rage and panic.
"Ezio, what are you doing!?" One of his buddies exclaims. "Are you trying to get us in even deeper shit, you birdbrain!?" The other one yells.
"No way I'm going back to the slammer, no way!" Ezio screams out. Things turn for the worst when Illyana bites his hand and makes a dash for Tatiana. "Sestra! (Sister!)."
"You little..!" The Mobster points his gun and shoots, the sound of the gun ringing throughout the warehouse district. The second cop shoots Ezio as he turns to shoot him. The mobster crumbles to the ground, dead.
Jim Reed Turns to see the young girl is all right, being hugged by her sister. But where did the bullet go...then he sees Pete on the ground next to them, holding his shoulder in pain? "Pete!" He cries as he dashes to his partner's side. "Let me have a look." He orders as he starts going over his injury. "I think I'm okay, Jim. The bullet must have gone straight through." Pete states as he tries to get up, Jim helping him while reaching for his shoulder mic. "This is Officer Reed requesting assistance at the abandoned warehouse district. An officer has been shot, I repeat an officer has been shot. Requesting an ambulance as well."
"Roger, All units, officer down, requesting all available units to head to the abandoned warehouse district. I repeat, all available units head to the abandoned warehouse district." The Radio woman relays.
"Units are on the way," Jim tells Pete.
"Really? Didn't notice." Pete repays sarcastically.
Jim gives his partner a hard look. "That's really funny. You know that was a stupid thing to do, even for you."
"I know." Pete sighs. "I guess I reacted a little too poorly."
"Yeah, you did." Jim agrees. "But at least you saved that girl." He now says with a smile.
"Yeah," Pete says, also smiling. "Now go tend to our friend, would you?" He asks, pointing with his head to the other two mobsters who surprisingly haven't fled. Probably didn't want to end up like Ezio. "Right. Just stay there till backup arrives, okay?" Jim says as he starts cuffing the two and reading them their rights.
Pete looks at the two young women, their eyes staring at him. "You two okay?" He asks in kindness. Though looking at the older girl, that probably wasn't the best question seeing how her face looked at the moment. Suddenly said girl throws herself at him and gives him a back breaking hug. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She keeps saying as she sobs into his shoulder, his good shoulder luckily enough. Her sister joining in, saying the same thing in Russian. 'Holy crap, these girls are strong.' Malloy notes to himself with a grimace. And though he appreciates the gesture, it wasn't helping his injury one bit. Tatiana realizes what she is doing and lets go of Pete, she and her sister mumbling apologies. Pete finally gets up rolling his shoulders, again grimacing in pain. He then notices something. The older girl is taller then his is, being about six foot four to his six feet. He raises an eyebrow. 'That not something you see every day.' He muses to himself. "I know that it has been a difficult night for you ladies, but I going to have to take your statements." He tells them. Tatiana grows stiff for a second, then her shoulders slump, almost in defeat. Her parents were going to kill her.
