Disclaimer: I don't own SG-Atlantis. But I'd like to believe that I have
the honor of writing the very first, albeit short, SG-Atlantis fic.
Granted, this is mostly pointless fluff, but I thought it'd be nice for a
start.
The True Reason Atlantis Fell
John and Telya were out for a casual stroll down General O'Neil Lane. The name was Aiden's idea of course, but no one disputed it.
"It truly is remarkable that this city lasted here for millions of years," Teyla remarked.
"Yeah, it definitely blows a lot of theories out of the water," John agreed. "Still, I can't help but miss Earth."
"Missing your homeworld is only natural."
They spent the next few minutes in silence, taking in the fresh ocean air, enjoying the cool breeze. They'd been in Atlantis for a few days now. Power was still a small problem, but it was a small price to pay considering they could have been crushed under tons of water.
When Dr. Weir asked John to form a new team it was a given that Teyla would be joining them. Of course the last few nights often ended in pointless arguments with Aiden over whether or not to call the new team, AG-1, as in Atlantis Gate.
"Hm, that's strange," Teyla remarked. "I haven't seen this block of buildings before."
They'd emerged on an open space at the farthest end of Gen. O'Neil Lane. John looked around once, and what he saw scared the daylights out of him. Quickly he whipped out his walkie talkie.
"Doctor Weir! You've got to get down here, it's an emergency."
"What is it?"
"Trust me. Just get down to Gen. O'Neil Lane! I think I discovered the true reason why the Ancients lost Atlantis."
Expecting a major new discovery, Doctor Weir gathered Rodney and Lt. Ford rushed to meet John and Teyla.
"Oh, for the love of God!" Rodney gasped as he took in the awful sight.
"You have got to be kidding me!" Aiden rolled his eyes in annoyance.
The block of buildings consisted of a WalMart, a Home Depot, and a series of brand name designer clothing outlets.
After gazing in morbid fear and disgust, John sighed.
"Well guys, it appears Earth may be heading for the same fate."
"I don't understand." Teyla responded. "What to these places signify?"
"That maybe the Ancients weren't that advanced after all."
