The sun glinted off her shining scales, reflecting the light into a cascade of colours that resulted in a blinding flash that stung the eyes of the inhabitants back on the solid ground. They were now watching the display with interest. Cinder's wings pumped in rhythm with her beating heart, as she swerved in midair to dodge the projectile aimed at her soft underbelly. When the projectile whizzed past her, she sucked in her breath, and let forth a tremendous ice beam causing it to shatter.
Seren watched the dragon in the distance, her eyes filling with pride as she watched her bonded go through the routine that they had practiced so many times before. Only this time she wasn't permitted by her mentor to take part in this exercise as she normally would, strapped in the harness upon Cinder's massive shoulders. It was Cinder's duty alone, he explained, to impress their majesty and the visitors, who were currently watching the display with admiration written on their faces. She looked towards the growing crowd, and noticed that the tall one with blond hair and a single blue eye, Fai, as he introduced himself, was particularly interested.
Fai caught the Seren's eye as she scanned the faces of the group standing on the practice grounds, and gave her a smile. When she turned away abruptly he shrugged, and walked over towards Sakura who was deep in conversation with Syaoran.
"Isn't it just amazing," Sakura was commenting," On how it can maneuver like that in the sky?" "Yes it is Sakura-chan" Fai agreed," I didn't even know these animals could stay aloft in the air. They are so large I would think that they couldn't support themselves on such thin membranes."
Hearing the two visitors talked about her bonded piqued Seren's interest. She moved closer to hear what they were saying. She lasped into a daydream and thought about the week when the visitors appeared out of thin air, right into the middle of the dragon's training courtyard. Within the massive castle of Marland that was her home and those who were currently training with their bonded dragons in service to the recently appointed king.
Mud splattered and nursing bruises they had finished up the training routine for that day, and were leading the dragons back to their appointed alcoves for a much need rest. The dragons talking with their bonded, didn't notice the visitors drop from a void into their courtyard, until the air crackled with the sound of spent magic.
The dragon's heads swiveled in the visitor's directions, and hissing a warning to their bonded they alerted the humans to their presence. The humans panicked, and drew their swords making a parameter of bodies that surrounded the visitors preventing their escape. Trying to find out what was going on everyone pressed closer.
"What the hell is going on out here!" the commander of dragons had roared at the people and dragons gathered in the courtyard. When he saw the mass of people in the courtyard including the five that obviously didn't belong, the ordered the captain to alert the king immediately and preceded to take them into custody.
That was the last time Seren was is such in close contact with the visitors, until today that is. Oh she had heard rumors alright, but the commander of dragons and her mentor hadn't permitted any talk of the visitors during practice. Cinder had some thoughts about it as well but she was usually so exhausted at the end of the day that she never commented further to Seren's dismay.
