"Pinky swear."

Riku glanced up, giving Sora a rather confused look, stretching out his shoulder from where he'd carried the heavy gummi block that they'd been trying to repair the ship with. It was a common occurance- the two had gone on patrol of the worlds, keeping the numbers of heartless low so that the creatures didn't make too much of a nuisance of themselves.

He stared at his best friend, who held out his pinky in almost a demanding way. "...what?"

"Pinky swear. That you won't get tempted anywhere near the darkness." There was a shaky look in the brunette's eyes...before Riku realized that their last battle had somewhat shaken the smaller teen up. It had been a slightly vicious one, and perhaps Riku had openly relied on his connection with the darkness to win. The strength he'd shown by almost teleporting through dark portals in attacking his enemy...it was the same sort of strength that, at one point, Riku had used against Sora himself.

It was almost laughable, and he was tempted to tease the other for doubting him in such a way, before he noticed that his friend was almost on the verge of tears- and that the little 'pinky swears' that their had done as children...it was the one thing that Sora was absolutely sure Riku would keep his word on. He was truely that terrified he'd lose Riku again.

It stabbed Riku deeply that he'd scared Sora that much, and on almost pure impulse, he knocked the other's hand away, and pulled his friend into a tight hug.

"Don't worry. With you around, the only thing to tempt me is ear plugs, silly." He murmured, reaching up behind the other to ruffle his hair.

He shifted, letting Sora silently cry against his shoulder for a short while, neither of them speaking of the darkness that both knew would permanently reside in Riku's heart.
