Background:
200 years ago the world began running out of oil, this lack of oil led to what was known as The Resource Wars and all nations of the world were locked in conflict with each other. The Resource Wars led to The Great War when all nuclear enabled countries launched their atomic weapons at each other and caused the end of the world. From this destruction came a new world, one much more dangerous and unforgiving this world is known as The Wasteland. All living creatures that failed to take cover during The Great War were either killed by the bombs or mutated by the radiation. The humans who did survive managed to get into large bomb shelters known as The Vaults and in these vaults humanity was sealed off for a hundred years. After humans emerged from the vaults they learned just how terrible The Wasteland is and some went off and became raiders, others were slaughtered by mutants, and some just went crazy. The humans who managed to keep their sanity and not become raiders set up multiple settlements in hopes of surviving the harshness of The Wasteland. One such settlement known as Megaton, is where a man named Steve Walton was born and raised. At a young age his mother was murdered by a madman trying to break into the city's armory. The murder of his mother taught Steve a hard lesson about how no matter how good life seems, no one is safe in The Wasteland. Years later after a group of raiders threaten his city, Steve finally decides it's time someone did something. Not wanting anyone else to have to die or go through what he did, Steve becomes The Mysterious Stranger, a shadowy figure who shows up just in time to take down the bad people of The Wasteland and protects the good people. Things aren't what they seem however, and as time goes by Steve is faced with a conspiracy to destroy the city that he has called home.

Chapter Release Speed:
Normally I try to post one chapter every weekend, usually on Saturday, but sometimes I am busy or I forget or something else happens. In order to keep up this posting speed I try to write most if not the entire story before I start posting just so if I'm stuck on a chapter it won't delay anything and I can usually finish the chapter I'm stuck on before I run out of chapters to post. Right now (at the time of writing this) I only have chapter 1, 2, and half of chapter 3 completed, the reason for this being that I wrote those before I had surgery about a month ago and in the weeks after have been filled with constant doctor's appointments and I haven't really had much of a break. In the time that I have had I have been mainly focusing on one of my Skyrim stories because it's the final story in the series and I have a lot planned for after it, but I am almost finished writing that story and I will resume production on this series after I finish it (although I might also resume writing my other Skyrim story also because it's been around a year since I've posted any chapters to it, but I'll try to work on this one and that one at the same time). I'm releasing chapter one right now just because it will give me more motivation to get back to this story after I finish my Skyrim one.
Series Notes:
This series will consist of 10 stories and will follow Steve through his beginning years as The Mysterious Stranger and show his point of view when he works with characters like The Courier and The Lone Wanderer. I do plan to have The Courier and The Lone Wanderer (and maybe even the character from Fallout 4, but I haven't decided yet) appear later in the series, but I don't really plan to have The Vault Dweller or The Chosen One appear because this series will mainly take place in the Capital Wasteland and it kinda begins around the time The Lone Wanderer leaves Vault 101. In order to avoid spoilers, I'm not going to list all the main characters in the character list right away, instead, each time a new major character appears in one of the stories I will update the character list with their name because I don't want to have their name already up there so you're expecting that character to appear at one point.
Story Notes:
I don't really have any notes for this story right now. Keep and eye on this though, I may have some eventually. If I do it's really just an issue I want to address, something I want to clear up, or it will just be a part of the story I want to explain a little bit.
