Author's Note: Okay... This is my first ever Black Butler Fanfiction so you must forgive me if any characters seem... Well, out of character. Lol. Except Elizabeth. I write her like that for a reason... You'll see what I mean?
"Lady Elizabeth, it's time to wake up. Your father wishes to speak with you." Shaking her gently she merely stirs her sleep. Shaking her once more ears you one large green eye to open as she yawns. You proceed to the large windows in Elizabeth's room and throw open the shades. She whines softly as you chuckle.
"I don't want to get up (Name)." She mumbles before snuggling back into her bed. The suns rays were barley an hour above the horizon and you feel horrible for waking her but it is very important.
"I'm very sorry Lady Elizabeth but your father said it was important! You must wake up. It has something about Lord Ciel." Her eyes snap open and she eyes your frantically as she sits up.
"Did something happen to Ciel?" Her eyes begin to water and you shake your head sadly.
"I'm sorry. I don't know Lady Elizabeth. Your father just said that a letter has arrived for you from the young Lord." Her eyes widen is surprise as she grins at you. You laugh a little.
"Ciel wrote me a letter? I wonder what it says. Is he OK?" She throws her covers back before stretching.
"I'm sure everything is fine but we must get you dressed quickly so that you can go and see your father." After a few more minutes you have Elizabeth all dressed and ready for the day. You open the door and lead her to her father's study before bowing and walking away to clean up her room. About an hour has passed since Lady Elizabeth has entered her father's study and you stand across the hall waiting for her to emerge. The doors open and Elizabeth gives her father a huge hug.
"Thank you father! I won't let you down! I promise." You curtsy politely to the Lord and he smiles at you.
"Good morning (name). Thank you for waking Elizabeth up at such an early hour for me. The two of you will be traveling to the Phantomhive Manor this morning as soon as possible. You will be working for the young Phantomhive, Lord Ciel, starting today. He requested some help from us in finding good workers. Elizabeth wishes for you to work for Ciel and keep an eye on him. Will you do this for us (Name) and bring good light to our house?"
"Of course my Lord." You say in a serious tone as your place your hand over your heart. "I will bring nothing but honor to both the Midford and Phantomhive houses. You have my word."
"Good. Now please, run a bath for Elizabeth and the get all your things together."
"Yes, my lord." You say as he retreats back into his study to finish more business. You glance at Lady Elizabeth and her eyes are sad. She runs up to you and hugs you tightly.
"Do not worry Lady Elizabeth, I will write to you if you wish?" She nods happily.
"I would love that (Name). I'm sad to see you go but I know that you'll work just as hard for Ciel as you have for me. But, promise me something."
"Anything, my Lady." You say. She smiles a little before looking away.
"Promise me that if anything happens to my beloved Ciel that you will protect him with your life." You place your hand over your heart once more before bowing.
"I swear upon it my Lady." You pull a blade out of your shirt sleeve and slice your arm once. "It's now a bound promise that I cannot break. I will protect him until my last breath." After this, you bandage your arm to hide the cut before running a bath for the young lady. You then proceed to pack all your things along with some stuff Lady Elizabeth might need. It another hour before you could leave for the Phantomhive Manor.
"I'll be back tomorrow father. I love you!" Lady Elizabeth says while hugging her father. He laughs deeply.
"I'm sorry but we should get going Lady Elizabeth." you state while curtsying. She nods before you help her up into the carriage. You climb up next before closing the door. Her father waves as Elizabeth beams with excitement. You seat yourself across from your master, Lady Elizabeth Midford. The two of you are currently on your way to Phantomhive Manor to see the young Lord Ciel. Your heart swells at the thought of your baby brother. You hadn't seen him and years since your parents had sent you off to America to live with other family. You never understood why they had sent you away though. You didn't have their last name. You sigh as you rest your chin in your hand and lean against the window. Lady Elizabeth stops her cheery chatter. She eyes you sadly before reaching over and squeezing your hand. You start in surprise, your (color) eyes jumping to meet her beautiful green ones. You smile apologetically at her before speaking.
"My apologies Mistress. It seems that my thoughts have wandered much longer than I thought. We're nearly at the Phantomhive Manor." You flash a smile in which she returns.
"I'm going to miss you (Name)." She whispers sadly before smiling again. "You're the best friend and maid I've ever had." You laugh a little pat her on the head.
"I'm simply one hell of a maid and a friend Lady Lizzy." Her eyes widen as she clasps her hands in front of her. Her eyes glow with amazement.
"You called me Lizzy! I love you (Name)!" Lizzy screeches out as she throws her arms out to hug you. You laugh lightly, accepting her hug.
"Well, we are friends are we not Mistress?" She rolls her eyes playfully.
"You don't have to call me Mistress anymore. You can just call me Lizzy." You laugh a little while shaking your head.
"Right. My apologies." You feel the carriage come to a stop so you carefully open the door and step out before holding out your hand for Lizzy to take. She smiles happily at you but you can see the sadness in her eyes. You want to hug her close and never let her go but you know that her wish is for you to help out her betrothed, Ciel Phantomhive. She steps down carefully before running up the front steps of the manor.
"Lady Elizabeth you must not run! It isn't Lady like." You heave a sigh and rush after her, catching her midway up the stairs. Holding her hand you smile down at her. She blushes before apologizing.
"I'm sorry (Name). I just always get so excited about seeing Ciel." You smile down at her and pat her head again.
"I know you do Lizzy. But, do you remember what we talked about? You're almost a full grown Lady. And, I'm sure Lord Ciel would like to see you acting as a proper young Lady instead of a small girl... Don't you think so to?" Elizabeth blushes madly before nodding her head enthusiastically. Her blonde curly pig tails bounce up and down, causing you to smile.
"You're right (Name)! I must be a proper young Lady to win the affection of Ciel." You sweat drop but she doesn't seem to notice so you laugh lightly.
"Right. Let us proceed Lady Elizabeth." She nods begins her walk up the steps as you follow her. The door to the manor open revealing a man in a black butler outfit, his black hair frames his face perfectly and seems to make his deep red eyes pop even more against his pale skin. Lady Elizabeth and you both curtsy and you see surprise flashes in the Butler's eyes. You mentally scoff. She must not have behaved very well before this.
"Lady Elizabeth, it is truly a pleasure to see you again." The man rests his right hand over his heart and he bows in response. Lady Elizabeth grins up at him before he takes her hand and presses a kiss to her knuckles.
"Sebastian. The honor is all mine." She gives another small curtsy before laughing a little. "Is Lord Ciel available?" Sebastian shakes his head a little as he pulls away and steps back to let you and Lady Elizabeth inside. You follow quietly after Elizabeth with your hands clasped behind your back.
"He is currently in a meeting young Lady Elizabeth but as soon as he is done he will be available. I apologize for the inconvenience." Lizzy waves him off lightly.
"It's fine Sebastian. Please let him know that he and I have business to discuss and that I'm in no hurry. I'll wait down here with my maid, (Name), until he is finished." You curtsy to Sebastian again and he bows to you.
"It's a pleasure to meet you (Name)." He gives you a tiny smile and you laugh a little.
"It's nice to finally meet you as well Sebastian. I have heard nothing but great things about the Phantomhive household." Sebastian smiles at that as Elizabeth blushes brightly.
"I will go and let Lord Ciel know that you here Lady Elizabeth. I'm sure he'll ecstatic to see you after a long day of work." He bows once more before quickly heading up the main staircase towards Ciel's office. You lead Lady Elizabeth to the couch where she sits down with a plop as you chuckle.
"Being a Lady is hard!" She whines jokingly. You cannot help but to chuckle as she turns her large green eyes on you. "How do you do it (Name)?" You pinch her cheek as lets out a squeak.
"I'm simply one hell of a Lady." She rolls her eyes at your response. Sebastian had returned from letting Ciel know that Lady Elizabeth and you were here but your response amused him greatly.
"So, I'm not the only one who says that huh?" Sebastian coughs a little making you and Lizzy turn your attention to him. He smiles slightly again before speaking.
"Lord Phantomhive is afraid that this meeting is going to be a while. He deeply apologizes and understands if you wish to leave and come back another day. But, if you wish to stay and wait then he says you can have free roam of the manor and its grounds. Just as long as you don't disrupt his meeting." Elizabeth sighs a little which you pinch her ear for. She yelps and shoots you a look which makes your raise your hand to pinch her again. She gulps before returning her gaze to Sebastian.
"Thank you Sebastian. We will stay. I'll go down and visit everyone. Would you be willing to show (Name) around? I don't want her to get lost." Lady Elizabeth curtsy's again before politely excusing herself. You smile a little as she disappears behind the door that you're guessing lead to the servant's quarters. You let out a small breath before looking back at Sebastian. You smile apologetically at Sebastian as you scratch the back of your head.
"I'm sorry about that. I've been working on her manors. I heard about what happened the last time she visited with Ciel and his family ring..." You let out a sigh but chuckle when you see a shiver run through Sebastian at the memory.
"If I may ask... What did you tell her to get her to behave?" You laugh at the serious tone Sebastian uses to ask you this question.
"It's simple really. I just told her that I thought Lord Ciel takes his rolls as head of the Phantomhive household very seriously and that he doesn't have time for a little girl." His eyes widen is surprise at the fact that you could tame the young unruly blonde brat.
"That seemed to have shaped her up a lot... Though, she still has a long way to go." You bow to him with a small 'yes' that makes him smirk.
"Yes, I will have to keep working on her manors." You stand up straight again and cock your head a little. "Are you willing to show me around the manor Sebastian? I would owe you." You swear you see his eyes flash a pink color but you pay it no mind. Your eyes look around the room a bit before you look back at Sebastian. He eyes you carefully before nodding.
"It would be my honor to show you around the Manor my Lady." You laugh a little with a light wave of your hands.
"Please, just call me (Name)." And with that Sebastian motions for you to follow him. You take a deep breath before walking beside him silently.
