This is Good

Charon's life could be described in a few words: a living hell. Raised as a servant for whoever held his contract and any disobedience could be punished. In the early days when he disobeyed they used a shock collar to punish him and when that didn't work they beat him within an inch of his life. Even when his contract was in the hands of masters to weak or cowardly to actually hurt him he was afraid of punishment. His last master was Ahzrukhal, a ghoul who loved caps and nothing else. It was in his employment that he met J.J. the Lone Wanderer a vault dweller who Galaxy News Radio made out to be some kind of Messiah.

After J.J. bought his contract and Charon killed Ahzrukhal they left for the wasteland where they fought everything from lowly Raiders to packs of Deathclaws and in all that time together the Lone Wanderer never barked orders or made him feel like Charon was beneath him. For the first time in his life he didn't feel like someone's tool but what cemented their friendship was when J.J. handed the contract to Charon and said "With this you belong to no one but yourself." Charon still followed him after that but it was out of respect for his skills and the companionship he provided.

Charon was there when Project Purity was taken by the Enclave and when the Brotherhood took it back but his moment of triumph was when J.J. destroyed the Enclave's Mobile Base Crawler and they both looked on from at a safe distance as an orbital bombardment annihilated the last hope for the Enclave. He turned to his friend and smiled before saying "This is Good."
