Henry and Violet were walking to the park. Henry hoped the food was still good. Reversing each others makeovers had set them a few minutes behind schedule.
"Henry, where are we going?" Violet asked.
"To the park" he said.
They had reached the park. The gazebo was surrounded the fence on it. There were two chairs and a table in the middle of the gazebo.
"It's beautiful" Violet gushed.
Thanks" Henry said. "Set it up myself."
They walked to the gazebo. Henry pulled Violet's chair out for her. She thanked him. He sat down and they began to eat. It was a lovely spread. There was garden salad, roast chicken, and grilled crab cakes. They talked of course, about everything and nothing. Halfway through the dinner, Henry asked Violet if she wanted to take a walk around the lake.
"It's really dark" she said. "Do you have a source of light?"
"No" Henry said.
She seemed tense.
"If that's the case, I really rather not then. Sorry."
"It's okay. I would never make you do something you don't want to do" Henry said.
Violet smiled.
Meanwhile, Emma and Hook lay next to each other in bed, both breathing hard.
"That was... amazing" Emma said.
Killian was grinning.
"I haven't lost my touch" Killian said.
"No, you haven't" Emma agreed.
Dinner was now over. Henry stood up and walked over to a radio. He turned it on. Soft, romantic music began to play.
Henry bowed.
"May I have this dance?"
Violet stood up and turned off the radio.
"No" she said. She walked off the pavilion.
Henry frowned. He reached out and grabbed her wrist.
"Where are you going?" he asked.
"Home" she said. Her voice was starting to break.
"Why?" Henry asked.
"I-I'm sorry" she said. "This all too familiar for me."
Henry spun her around. Tears were running down her face.
"Violet please tell me what's wrong so I can fix it" Henry pleaded.
She shook her head.
Henry was starting to become angry.
"Look, Violet" he said "I worked really hard to make this happen. You don't have to go through with this, but I deserve to know why."
Violet nodded. "You're right.
They sat down on the pavilion floor.
"When I was eight, I had a crush on a boy named Nicholas. He was two years older than me and he was the village heartthrob. I was thrilled when he asked me out. He took me down to a river for a picnic. We ate and played in the river for a while. It started to get dark. He wouldn't let me leave. He said I owed him. I asked him what he meant and then he-"
Tears began to well in Violet's eyes.
"He's here, too! I saw him last week!"
Violet began to cry.
Henry was consumed with rage.
"Where does he live?" Henry growled. "I'm going to hunt him down and-"
"Henry, no!" Violet cried. "It was a long time ago. Besides, I'm with you now. I know you would never do that to me."
Henry nodded. He took her hands in his and and pulled them both up.
"You're right. I wouldn't" he said. "You're kind, smart, patience, passionate, funny, strong, and loving. The fact that you're beautiful is only a bonus. You, Violet, are a lady in every way, and I promise I will never treat you any other way."
Violet had new tears in her eyes. But these weren't tears of sadness. These were tears of joy.
"Oh, Henry" she said.
They stood there for awhile, holding hands, gazing into each other's eyes.
"Well?" Violet asked. "Aren't you going to kiss me?"
Henry blushed. "I wasn't sure you wanted me to."
Violet smiled and leaned in close.
"You know, you don't have to take this 'treating me like a lady' thing too seriously, right?" Violet said.
Henry leaned in and kissed her.
