The vampire brides hissed and circled Van Helsing, but they were not ready to approach him: Van Helsing still had a bottle of holy water in his hands. They had seen how it´s contests had made the vampire´s bite to disappear. Quickly he used last drops to make a protective ring around him.
The door was flung open. Meinster stepped in, dragging a red-haired woman behind him. Unlike the eeriely white-clad vampire women, Marianne was dressed in crimson, her rosy skin shimmering and her walking-gown like pure, clean blood against the Baron´s blue cape.
"I brought someone to meet us," Baron gloated. "Isn´t she lovely? Why not to preserve such a beauty instead of seeing it disappear?"
Suddenly he fell quiet. The sound of leathery wings filled the night, when the cloud of bats flew in and attacked the vampires.
"Marianne, come here!" Van Helsing shouted and Marianne ran to him. Van Helsing wrapped his arm protectively around her. "Don´t worry, we are safe in the holy circle", he added soothingly. "Baroness must have summoned the vampire bats before her death."
