I see the hesitance on your face as you walk away from me. I sense the fear in you as you run back to me, telling me you do not want to go. Your face is dirty except for a wet trail coming from your eyes, slowly moving down your cheeks. I don't want you to grow up around here, Ani. You deserve so much more. You deserve everything.

Seeing your pain breaks my heart a thousand times, and I yearn to give you one last hug, one last kiss. But I know the kiss will turn into many, and I know once I have you in your arms I can never let go of you. With a hand placed firmly on both shoulders, I look in your eyes and send as much reassurance as I can. To be honest, I am not reassured at all.
