A big hello to everyone from JarrettSoon! Introducing my second Despicable Me story... "Dear Diary"! Hope you enjoy this!
Dear Diary chapter 1
Margo Gru lifted her eyes from her phone to keep track of her sisters. Agnes was sitting on the edge of the fountain clutching a penny, eyes closed and face screwed up in hopeful concentration. "Probably wishing for a real-life unicorn," she chuckled silently.
And Edith? "Oh, well, she can take care of herself," Margo thought, as she opened her BFF Avery's text and prepared to reply.
Suddenly, he strode into view. The boy of her dreams. The dancing jets of water of the Paradise Mall fountain tantalizingly obscured and framed the raven-haired Latin American boy. He was about her age, slightly taller, dressed in a black leather jacket and jeans.
A goofy smile broke across Margo's face. "Boy, he's gorgeous!" she thought. "He looks vaguely familiar…"
Antonio Perez casually walked past the fountain on his way back to his dad's store, hands in his pockets. He tossed his head slightly to get a lock of hair out of his eye and noticed a girl staring at him with a smile on her face. He recognized her from the school library. "Oh, it's that little bookworm. Still, she's pretty cute," he thought. "Look out niña, here comes Antonio Perez."
Margo struggled to keep him in view, buit somehow lost track of him. She glanced around, shifting her feet slightly. She inched back some more and suddenly felt something hard make contact with her legs, knocking her off-balance. She realized, too late, that she was going to fall into the fountain… until a hand slid smoothly round her waist and swung her around. She looked up, startled, into the dark brown eyes of the boy she'd been watching.
"Cool glasses," he commented, his voice silky smooth. He pushed her glasses, slightly askew, back up onto her nose, and helped her up. "I'm Antonio."
"I'm… Margo."
"I was just going to get a cookie. Care to join me?" Antonio replied.
He's asking me… on a date? Margo's lovestruck mind struggled to process this. "Uh, sure," she stuttered. "I'm… Margo," she repeated.
Antonio made his move quickly, striding towards the girl. She appeared to lose sight of him and twisted around, trying to catch sight of him again. As he reached her, she seemed to stumble over her own feet and nearly fall into the fountain. He made his move. Quickly, he slipped his arm round her waist and caught her. "Cool glasses," he commented, pushing her glasses back up onto the bridge of her nose. She was so light. "I'm Antonio," he said.
"I'm… Margo," she replied, sounding dazed. "She seems a little ditzy," Antonio thought. "Oh, well. If she's fallen for me, it'll be fun for a while, at least."
"I was just going to get a cookie. Care to join me?"
"Uh, sure. I'm… Margo." Definitely ditzy.
He began walking to his father's store, casting a sideways glance at her and tossing his hair to the side again.
Margo watched him stride off and hurried to keep up. Her romantic thoughts were rudely interrupted, though. "Um, ahem?" Edith cleared her throat. "Ah, there she is!" Margo thought.
"Um, I'll catch up with you guys later… Bye!" she replied, brushing her hair over her ear with one finger, shyly looking back at Antonio before falling into step with him.
Edith cringed on the inside. Margo going out… with a boy?! "Can I be the first to say… Ewww?" she commented in disgust, to no one in particular. Suddenly, Agnes grabbed her and shook her hard. "We gotta go tell Gru!" she cried excitedly.
The diary entries will start coming from the third chapter onwards. The first couple of chapters covers their meeting. Leave a review! Also, let me know if this switching of perspectives is confusing.
Shalom and God bless from JarrettSoon! And Merry Christmas to all who read this!
