Tokka – When You Walk Away
All she could do was drop to her knees and cry. She could do no more, for she was broken. Her heart in shards as the love of her life just vanished as If by some form of black magic.
When
you walk away
You don't hear me say
"Please, oh baby,
don't go"
Simple and clean is the way that you're making me
feel tonight
It's hard to let it go
She could not even begin to fathom what his reason for leaving could be. Was it her? Was it him? Why? She knelt in tears as she began to think back to the days before he left. The better days.
Her tears kept streaming as she rummaged through her thoughts to find a decent explanation. She could not think of one. He has always loved her, she thought, until this very fateful day in which he decided to go. Leaving her was a terrible thing to do. How could he? Why would he? These thoughts kept chasing their way through her head while she slowly lay down to the cold marble floor of the entryway. The spot that will haunt her forever.
As her gentle ivory skin made contact with the chilled marble flooring, it hit her like a bolt of lightning in a storm. His reason for leaving…..was her eyes. She sat up hastily and quickly demolished the thought. He couldn't have left because she was blind. No. Never. He said that was what made her so special to him. Then she realized what she missed as she was crying on the floor.
A note.
She felt it. A single sheet of rock set up on the table. She slinked across the floor to the table and grabbed the slab. She placed her hand on the slab, and began to read it:
Toph,
I am so sorry it has to be this way. I cannot deal with it anymore. The emptiness in your eyes. The coldness that burns in them. The...the…blindness. I never realized that I would get tired of the eyes for which I fell in love with. But the day has come and I cannot deny it. I must go. I do not want to hurt you anymore than how I am right now. I loved you once, and that will never go away.
I'm Sorry.
Sokka
When
we are older you'll understand
It's enough when I say so
And
maybe
Some things are that simple
That note was all it took. She realized now that if he could not love her, then no one ever would. Her eyes and her heart would be forever empty.
When
you walk away
You don't hear me say
"Please, oh baby,
don't go"
Simple and clean is the way that you're making me
feel tonight
It's hard to let it go.
