It was a rainy Tuesday afternoon in mid October when Sakura Kyoko realized she'd have to win over Sayaka Miki's cat before she could even attempt to move in with her.
Normally, the redhead wouldn't have a problem with befriending an animal like this, but Sayaka's cat was sly as a weasel and about as friendly as an angry wasp. This made it considerably difficult to utter the fur-ball's name without being interrupted by an angry hiss; let alone get close enough to pet the damn thing.
Not even an hour later, when Sayaka had left to get groceries, Kyoko began her quest to earn the feline's approval. It started with cat toys. Little catnip sprinkled toy mice, toy fish on strings, laser pointers, even balls of yarn; whatever Kyoko could get her hands on. All attempts ended in scratches and bites.
The second attempt was bribery. Cat treats, fresh meat and catnip. Masayoshi (the cat in question) would sit on the edge of the couch, looking regal as ever, staring down at Kyoko as she "subtly" laid out a bowl of food next to her. Kyoko would whistle idly and wait for the grumpy tabby cat to rush to her side. Neither moved. Masayoshi would trot right past the ever hopeful Kyoko, tactfully ignoring the diced steak next to the redhead. Kyoko would groan in defeat.
It came to the point where Kyoko rather loudly voiced her defeat and fell onto the couch with a monstrous sandwich and ignored the cat. A tuna sandwich. Masayoshi would move closer and closer as nonchalantly as possible until she was face to face with the tired redhead. She would meow hoarsely and Kyoko would snarl and ask what she was doing. The cat would then proceed to nudge the sandwich, nipping at it as Kyoko raised it to her face.
With one paw shoving Kyoko's hand down and the other resting on top of the plate, Masayoshi growled and mewed and gnashed at the fish filled sandwich. Both hands holding the plate away from the loud tabby, Kyoko grumbled in frustration and stuck her tongue out at the stubborn feline.
Sayaka returned later that day to her girlfriend asleep on the couch, her cat sleeping on said girlfriend's head and a half eaten tuna sandwich on the floor.
