Robin sat in the kitchen as Sarah was whipping up pancakes. Sarah had become so domestic since the arrival of little Josh. Kyle and Sarah couldn't bear to name their son John after what had happened.
"You ok?" Sarah asked, watching Robin stare off into space.
Robin blinked, snapping back into the moment, "Yeah. I was just thinking." she admitted. As she sat there pensively she had a realization, she was three weeks late. Her face must've given something away because Sarah noticed.
"What's that face about? You look like you've seen a ghost," Sarah commented, worried a little about her friend.
Robin shook her head, "Sarah, I'm three weeks late. Can a terminator get you pregnant?" Robin's jaw was frozen in the wide open position.
Sarah squinted her eyes, slightly in disbelief, "You'd have to ask Pops. Do you need a test? I have some from when we were trying for Josh," she offered.
Robin nodded, "Yeah, that would be awesome. Could you also keep Pops distracted for a tiny bit so I can wrap my head around this?"
Sarah nodded, disappearing briefly and returning with a long rectangular box for Robin, "Good luck," she said, handing it over. "I hope it's positive."
Robin smiled, "I do too."
Robin walked into the bathroom, following the instructions to the tee. She set a timer on her watch for three minutes and sat on the edge of the tub to wait it out. As she sat there, she heard a knock at the door.
"Just a minute," she said, feeling panicked.
"Do you want to have a picnic?" she heard Pops' voice outside the door, 'How'd he sneak past Sarah?' she thought.
"Yeah, I'd love to. Hey, I have a question for you," she said as she looked down to see the test read positive. She tossed it quickly and opened the door.
"What is your question?" Pops asked, his system automatically doing an evaluation on her.
"Can a terminator … um…. get someone," Robin was stumbling all over her words.
Pops breath caught, a human reaction he'd learned, "You are pregnant. I suppose, theoretically, since I have blood, I must have everything else to assimilate into the world."
Robin nodded, she couldn't shake the shock, "Good to know. Well, I, ugh, guess we're having a baby?"
Pops' face brightened, his lips curling into a beaming smile before he wrapped his arms around her in a gentle embrace, "Yes, we are. You must begin taking vitamins and we need to see a doctor."
"Wow, slow down there buddy," Robin said, placing her hand gently on his chest. "I'll go out to the store and get my vitamins in a little bit but we need to tell Sarah and Kyle first."
"It is bad luck to tell this early," Pops stated, "Based on my calculations you are only 8 weeks along."
"It'll be ok," Robin said, "Plus, Sarah gave me the test. I'm surprised your system didn't notice earlier."
Pops smiled, "It is not visible to my system until 8 weeks. Plus, I only evaluate you when you seem to be in distress."
Robin smiled and grabbed his hand to bring him downstairs where Kyle and Sarah were eating breakfast.
"Sarah, Kyle, we're having a baby!" Pops said excitedly before Robin could even pick out the words to say.
Sarah beamed, "Our little family is growing!"
