Hiro was paralyzed. Standing there, emotionally unable to bring himself move he reflected on everything that had happened to him so far. In doing so, he realized that his greatest wish was that he could have brought himself to be selfish enough to leave New York to its fate, and have been able to spend what little time Charlie had left in her presence. He didn't want to have to hurt anymore. He had saved the world more than once, and all he wanted was his happy ending.
Hiro bowed his head and made a wish.
