Love Ceases to Exist

Chapter 1 The New Law
It had been three years since the defeat of Lord Voldemort and a new era was arising in the Wizard world. Most mourning and funerals were gone as were the last Death Eaters rounded up. Harry Potter quietly sipped a glass of pumpkin juice, relaxing with Ginny Weasley aside him.
"What?" Ginny bellowed in an ear-piercing scream, glaring down at the Daily Prophet in her hands as if it was the only evil in the world, and if Harry had seen the article she'd glanced at, it was.
"What's wrong, Ginny?" He asked with worry-filled eyes.
Ginny didn't respond but seemed in a trance as she finished reading. Confusion and hate gleamed in her eyes. She handed the paper over to him.
"They can't do this," she was near to sobs, Harry put a comforting arm around her as he read the cursed article. "If only Kingsley hadn't quit."
As Harry concluded the article he let out a frustrated shout of curses and swear words. After finally calming down, or somewhat calming down he grabbed Ginny's hand.
"Where is everyone? We need to go to the Ministry."
"Dad went back to work and everyone else is out, let's just go alone," Ginny's face was set in a furious rage, she held Harry close as they disapparated.

"What do you mean?" Harry had never heard Ginny speak this angrily let alone to the minister himself.
"I mean, Miss Weasley that all further weddings will be arranged by the ministry starting now. Everyone that is seventeen or older will be receiving a letter with information on their new spouse and wedding date," stated the man for what he hoped the last time.
"That's unfair! You're just afraid that this generation won't be as large as past! Can't you just accept many are still mourning their losses of loved ones?" This time Harry was the one to shout at him.
"Mr. Potter," the Minister was kinder than him than he was to Ginny but still spoke sternly. "This law will allow families, most likely the oldest rivalries to end. If the youngest of a family were to marry their enemy the horrible relationship would cease to exist after the wed."
"No it won't," muttered Ginny but was harshly ignored.
"And ex-Death Eaters, their children could be wed to muggleborns or the like," Harry knew this would not work. If a Death Eater like Malfoy was to wed a bloodtraitor he'd probably commit suicide before getting married. "Anyone to refuse this new law will get a long-term sentence in Azkaban."

Hours later the Weasley family along with Hermione, Angelina, and Harry resided in the living room of the Burrow, Molly, Ginny, Angelina, and Hermione's faces were tear-streaked. Ginny cuddled in Harry's arm as Hermione and Angelina did in Ron and George's. Bill and Percy both would avoid the law, both having married before but George and Charlie couldn't nor would the Golden trio and Ginny.
"I'll do anything I can to stop this," Arthur broke the silence. "I can't let this happen to my family."
"Who knows maybe I'll be paired with Angelina, Ron will be with Hermione, and Ginny will be with Harry," said George sarcastically.
"I'll be paired with some Pure-Blood, Death-Eater's son," Ginny predicted, sobbing into Harry's chest.
"It's going to be alright, Ginny," Harry hugged her, lifting her in his lap. "I will make sure you have the freedom to marry whoever you wish."
"I want to marry you."
